Help! No numbers on a 318 block.

Hi All,
My son recently picked up a '72 Sat with a 318.

I'm not seeing any numbers on the front of the block. I'm(we're) trying to figure out what we have. Any help would be appreciated.

The numbers you're looking for are on the starter side of the block.

Does this mean I need to pull the engine to see the numbers?

Apologies if this seems like a stupid question, but its been many yrs since i've worked on these old cars, and the memory has gotten a wee bit foggy.

No, but you might need to pull the starter. I cannot remember.

Found these numbers; 4006730-318-13.

Does this mean anything regarding year etc.
