im close to taking the plunge and buying this 71 rr 383 4 speed tx9 car...love mopars and know values but I'm the first to admit I'm still very limited in knowing a ton about these cars (mechanics, coding, terminology ,etc.)... I have a few pics and a decoded fender tag and I'm hoping you guys can chime in and see if it lines up . for example... charcoal strobe stripes by rear window, could these be factory charcoal colour? are the orange seats original? did this car have the checkered type stripes by the hood at one time?.... appreciate any help. newbie here

the road runner package is "just that" 340 , 383 , 440 6pac , 4 speed /auto , 8 3/4 / dana 60 all the onside parts etc. its a "package "

orange bucket seats are incorrect in a few ways they are 72 up seats
and it was a black/charcoal bench seat car to begin with
A87 = decor package
door panels and steering wheel were upgraded... they appear to be correct
charcoal colored strobe could be black.
it might just be the pic or faded black.
strobes only came in 3 colors
black,white,gold
to pin down a value you need many more pics and more info
numbers matching engine?
fender tag present?
build sheet or any other documentation?
71's like to rot so the quality of work done
needs to be closely scrutinized..
correct parts for a 71 can be hard to find and pricey

really appreciate it... so orange interior seats like that only were produced in 72 and up years?
motor isn't original, tranny is, yes fender tag is present.
I figured black 4 speed car was pretty cool and valuable.. he wants 35,000 Canadian$. which is about 27,000 usd right now.

No
I should of been more specific
The bucket seats are 72 up style seat frames
With 71 orange skins put on them
Orange seats were a 71 only thing
27 sounds a bit high
But not too far off
Really need more pics to get a feel
Underside pics will tell you a lot.

Also, the car is not originally coded for the strobe stripe it currently has (or any strobe stripe)...unless that V14 code is actually V8X. The car is also not originally coded for the rear trunk mounted spoiler.

If I recall correctly from memory, the A87 also got you wheel opening moldings and the rear tape blackout stripes on the bumper/valance.

The code listed as 45 is most likely J45.

Actually, H2XA is the gunmetal interior...much rarer.

I don't have a photo of this interior in bench seat configuration, but here's one with buckets to get a sense of the correct colors

Trust these guys on For B-bodies Only. There are a TON of Mopar experts here. Tell the guy who owns the car you've spoken with some true Mopar experts & the car is nice, but totally not original & offer him $20,000 USD (whatever that is in Canadian dollars) and go from there. It's a nice car for sure. If you plan to keep it & drive it, then make him a deal. If you plan to re-sell the car, then maybe not the best one to buy.
