This must be a stupid question because I can't find anything about this anywhere.

I am finally getting around to installing my edelbrock cam and valve springs. There are 2 different spring lengths in the box, however (8 of each), and so far of the 3 cylinders I have removed the springs from, they are all the same length. What gives?

I'm not familiar with their products. What is "taller"? The inner dampener (flat wound spring) or the the actual spring (round wire wound spring)?

Not a dumb question at all.... but im only seeing these as for SBF, like 302s and 351s in a stock configuration. No mention of the short ones, but it DOES say for use with rotators, so Im guessing if those are correct for application, youre gonna use the short ones with the rotators for sure. Id keep waiting for an expert for sure, cuz you may not want to go with those at all (or the rotators). HTH, Lefty71

Which cam kit did you buy??

What cylinder head are you trying to install these on?

Good question. I had just assumed it had stock RB heads. Now that I have checked, the stamping is 2406516. So these are 383 heads? Is there a reason someone would put these on a 440?

What year 440?? They used 516's on 426 wedges as well as 383's. Someone could have put them on there to bump up the compression, because they are good for one full point, and if you put some work into them, they could flow better too.... Anyway, the actual springs would work the same for many production iron heads, regardless of the casting/part number. HTH, Lefty71

Block is a '66 cast. No idea where it was pulled from or what happened to the original from the car.

Id bet those are original to a '66 440 engine, meaning the 516 heads. They were making 516's in droves for the 65 383's and 426's. Theres no real difference in the ports anyways, and 915's on a lo-po 440 would have the same valve sizes anyway.

Yup - the right BB Mopar ones are 5892, not 5982.
