I decided it's best if I do my whole front end. The steering gearbox was also leaking. I bought ALL new Moog front end parts except for upper control arm bumpers and the ever elusive pitman arm. Since I wanted to get a FirmFeel gearbox and I heard that Moog pitman arms for my 70 RR are about as difficult to find (and expensive) as hen's teeth, I decided to go with a large sector gearbox (73-?). This pitman arm is supposedly available from Moog at a down-to-earth price. Unfortunately, Firmfeel couldn't tell me which one.

So my question is, does anyone know what Moog pitman arm part number would work with a large sector power steering gearbox on a 70 RR?

Thanks in advance!

I bought a pitman arm from summit racing for my 68 GTX. The price was $109. I don't remember if it was Moog or not. I just remember it fit fine and filled the bill. I suggest you check with Summit.

Original steering box had a small sector spline. Moog doesn't make one anymore and they start at $100 for lesser brands. Moog does make a few large sector spline pitman arms that summit has starting at $36. That's why I got a large sector steering gearbox from firmfeel. Now I just want to get the right large sector pitman arm. That's why I'm looking for the part number. But thanks X'd.

I'd contact Firm Feel. They'll have what you want.

I tried that. They could only give me information on their pitman arm. But at $180.... I'm going to try calling Moog today. I just thought for sure someone else would have done this already.

Sorry for the bum steer. In re-reading you post, i see you already contacted FF. Duh on my part, just eating too many of the retarded pills yesterday.

It was actually a good thing. It got me thinking in another direction, another highly reputable and respected business, Steer and Gear. I found a chart on their website. It shows that the 62-70 B-bodies use the same pitman arm as the 70-72 E-body. It also shows that the 73-74 B and E-bodies use the same pitman. The cross-shaft size changed size from 72-73 but I gotta believe the rest of the front end is probably the same. If I'm correct in my assumption, then the correct Moog pitman arm would be K7076, $36 at Summit. Does anybody find anything flawed in my logic? By the way, Moog (Federal-Mogal) was COMPLETELY USELESS. They couldn't compare the K7076 to the correct pitman for my car. Heck, they couldn't even tell me what part number the Moog part used to be! If their parts weren't better than the competition and reasonably priced, I'd totally write them off.

You know...I would think it would work but I can't say for certain. :eusa_think:
I, for some unknown reason, have actually be researching this problem 'just because' and I'll be danged if I can find much about it. I know rehrenberg offered some sort of a pitman arm 'fix' for this exact problem (he sold it on ebay) but he has nothing listed now.

70mopars, did you ever try out the k7076 arm? I'm looking for the same thing.

The K7076 worked and fit perfectly. Sitting the old and new next to each other (sorry I didn't think of taking a picture) they do slightly different bends but the 2 ends end up in the right locations. There were no issues with clearance because of different "bends". I would highly recommend this solution, especially considering the overpriced original or overpriced "rebuilt" units.
