Headed straight for Tampa/St Pete and the I-4 corridor, all the way to Daytona.

Yeah doesn't look good. Rare storm track for the area. Have a cousin in Tampa hoping she, family, and all her pets are prepped...well as much as this could be.
Hope & prayers for all those possibly impacted.

I don't think I've ever seen a hurricane that originated in the gulf.

From what I had read, there's two similar tracked hurricanes, one in the later 1800's and the other a little over a 100-years ago. It hit Tampa when the pop there was like 100,000 and 8 people were killed. Geez, what's it now? Couple million?

Municipal Tampa is 400,000 IIRC

When I moved from Dayton OH, in 1988, Dayton was twice the size of Tampa.

Now Tampa is twice the size of Dayton.

This one is going to be bad. Going to work tomorrow morning, will be at work until (probably) sometime Friday. My wife and the dog are headed to Atlanta. House is as secure as it is going to get. I am hoping the only damage is the pool cage is destroyed.

155 mph now, expecting 165 in 12 hrs. Those models that I posted on the other thread seem to be happening. Some were showing pressures down below 910 mb. Insane!

Has it occurred to anyone that just possibly, these latest storms that develop and the similar patterns, just might be caused by some entity that is able to manipulate and control the weather??? Just seems to me to be just plain coincidental how they suddenly develop in such rapid sequence and succession and in locations that traditionally do not have such occurrences. Albeit, not in customary locations. Plus, lately, they seem to be hitting and targeting some Red States and not any others. Probably just a Climate change phenomenon even though we all should know that Mother Nature is always in charge. And then maybe not!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Not sure how they have it significantly weakening from tomorrow morning as a cat 5 until landfall, 8 PM Wednesday as a cat 3.

I'm not sure I've ever known one to do that.

I have heard that the storm will encounter significant shear before landfall and that will cause the weakening. We are all crossing our fingers for that.

Vacuum the ocean floor.

No. It has not occurred to anyone rational. Milton has been tracked as a tropical depression for weeks. And the bathwater temperatures of the gulf is what fueled its explosion in intensity.

It's looking as the Tampa area is going to take a direct hit. I hope all takes this very seriously. I lived on east coast of Florida. And saw my share of Tropical storms and even one cat 1-2 hurricane. But this Milton is a monster.

Thoughts and prayers of course to all that Milton is going to effect.

Is this joking around? Creating hurricanes and only targeting red-states? They’re along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, AL, MS, LA, FL, TX, suffering hurricanes as long as the records go back. Blue-states along the Atlantic coast have had hurricanes. Seems that a few blue-states have had their share of being whacked by fires, floods, and earthquakes. Could it be from climate change? Not debating man-made, just that the climate is...changing. The water temp in the Gulf of Mexico is the highest it has ever been since records were kept.

Got my fingers crossed its north of Ft Myers. I know that's probably cruel but we've got family that have finally recovered from Hurrican Ian and I'm not sure Sanibel and Bonita Springs family can handle another one this soon.

Best of luck to anyone in it's path...

Poor bastards, batten the hatches down
get to higher ground

starting in the Gulf, not Atlantic is more rare
I wonder if that makes a difference, started over warmer water

is it easier to seed/alter a storm that way ?
or some other conspiracy science BS

I've seen many of these storms, reported 'as weakening' as they approach shore
& I don't even live anywhere near there

I ain't no weather or hurricane expert,
I just watch the weather channel every AM
but;
they lately seem to have an (a bias, tards "science") agenda too
I wish they just stick to weather, just the facts

I saw it too, they claimed it will weaken to a Cat 3
before it (the eye) comes ashore

Actually, a rational person would note all the inconsistencies and wonder why. That same person would do a little research and would very quickly see that not only is weather modification well documented, but pretty plain with Helene...

We've had hurricanes before. We got hurricanes now. We'll have hurricanes in the future. No, it's not man made. No, it's not due to any bogus "climate-change, global-warming, whatever-political-name-of-the-day" phenomenon. It's good ole Mother Earth, doing what good ole Mother Earth does. We call it "weather", and it's always changing.

Actually, you don’t. Everything south of landfall is going to get a big storm surge from this.
And now what the heck, a new spot to watch.
