Hey Detroit members... WTH is this about?

Stupid has won. the majority of people are sheep and dont care or dont see the decline of what was a better way to live.

"Our world" is not Detroit, or Chicago, or Baltimore, or SF, or any of these other urban-decay hellholes.

Pointedly avoiding any political commentary, considering the forum....
Don't kid yourself. You're obviously not paying attention.

I absolutely am.

I know my region; I know where the lines are drawn. 20 minutes away, Frederick and Montgomery counties. An hour away, Baltimore. Here? Washington county and west? 180 degree difference...and we (and our LEOs) do not, and will not, tolerate it here.

The problem is good people standing idle.

There are areas, where good people do NOT stand idle. Those places will be our last hope.

The younger people have never seen a great America, and the education system was changing back when I was in High-School [mid 70's]. These last couple of generations, have been taught to be quiet and obedient to the powers that be.

.....its super tragic. This is an issue brought on by entitlement and an utter lack of respect for education and honor.

This isn't happening just in the inner cities, but throughout the country. The cops have become the thugs. It's nothing new, cops were always on the take in one way or another, they would rough up a guy to force them to give the "right answer" but nowadays the cops are worse than the street gangs and they do it under the color of law. And they do it openly.
You can't paint all police with that brush... There's always been & will always be some bad cops... And yes with the current situation of defunding & prosecuting officers for things that happen more due to the actions of the criminals than the actions of the officer many of the good cops have left the force leaving us with a higher percentage of bad cops... But certainly not all cops or even most cops are bad...

Per my earlier comparison with the trucking industry, similar factors at work producing the same result. There were always a few bad apples in my business, it was my job to identify them. I always had a tough juggling act - legal consequences if they messed up, versus potential legal consequences if I tried to terminate them proactively.

As I was heading out the corporate door, with one foot on the proverbial banana peel, I got in a spat with the human resources manager at a meeting. I called her out on the costs of accidents versus EEOC litigation after she accused me of being fast and loose in terminations. Zero cost in the EEOC front, millions on the accident side. She was pretty mad, and I got terminated shortly after. The irony in this was I myself was a member of two protected classes under the guidelines, and had the basis for a decent lawsuit. But I was glad to be done with the nonsense, and never looked back.

Cops and truck drivers - different jobs, similar issues. I had this conversation with many officers over the years.

I saved this screen shot yesterday after logging on to the City's page to pay the water bill.

Even out here in BFE, the "incentives" to lure in good employees are sadly almost comical.

Is $17 an hour considered "competitive" now? Even Tyson chicken has advertised $2000+ sign on bonuses.

We get what we pay for I guess.

If you pay peanuts, you get squirrels!

They are paying $17 an hour to work at Taco Bell here, now I wonder why no one wants to be a cop anymore!

You can also get killed at Taco Bell for forgetting the hot sauce or screwing up an order these days. Cops might catch the perpetrator. Then a District Attorney will elect not to prosecute because their case load is already too full or "the kid is only 15."

It only makes the news if it's ....... in color. <wink>

Then Bad Kid miraculously becomes Martyr Kid and his entire extended family never have to rob another store or shoot a clerk for the rest of his entitled life ...............

Am I jaded by society? Or just too damned logical?

Jimi Hendrix covered this....

Nice choice!

I offer this one, another old song most have probably heard dozens (if not hundreds) of times.

Click on it again now but this time, listen to it. It's just as if not even more timely now than it was when it was first written.

Maybe I'm just an emotional female or, more likely, just a proud American who still treasures it ... but I have never been able to see the last few seconds of this video. It's too blurry once that last big word hits the screen.

Never give up. The only one you can count on to rescue you is you.

War Pigs is a GREAT song that pulls no punches about the evils and costs of warfare.

@CudaChick1968

Have you heard the Samantha Fish version?

Excerpts from "Two Minutes To Midnight" by Iron Maiden-

Kill for gain or shoot to maim
But we don't need a reason
The golden goose is on the loose
And never out of season
Blackened pride still burns inside
This shell of bloody treason
Here's my gun for a barrel of fun
For the love of living death

The killer's breed or the demon's seed
The glamour, the fortune, the pain
Go to war again, blood is freedom's stain
Don't you pray for my soul anymore

2 minutes to midnight
The hands that threaten doom
2 minutes to midnight
To kill the unborn in the womb

The blind men shout, "Let the creatures out!
We'll show the unbelievers"
Napalm screams of human flames
For a prime-time Belsen feast, yeah
As the reasons for the carnage cut
Their meat and lick the gravy
We oil the jaws of the war machine
And feed it with our babies

War Pigs has always been a favorite.... Funny story, Being a Military brat living on a military base in foreign countries during the cold war long predating cell phones, pagers & other modern means of communicating when ever the servicemen were put on alert the signal to call them to their duty station was air raid sirens all around the base.... Well the air raid sirens playing on War Pigs is the same signal... Pops use to like taking naps since he worked crazy hours... My brother bought Paranoid the first week it was out... He & I both would wait till dad was sound asleep then put on War Pigs.... He would be wide awake, fully dressed & headed out the door before he realized it was just those damn boys & their damn music.... Amazing he never destroyed the album or the stereo...

Oh man, thanks for the gut laugh!!! I've had a few laughs over the last couple of weeks but this one was the best....heck, I'm still laughing.

Rogue cops are nothing new, there was a cop bar in St. Paul’s ”North End” where you could buy drugs or stolen goods, no problem. Sometimes the only difference between the cops and the crooks was the cops had a badge.
