Howdy. Picked up a 73 Satellite wagon last weekend. I WAS very excited until I went to the DMV, and found out it was still on the system from 2002. So about $800 in back fees. Anyways, I'm going to suck it up, and handle it. LOL! Besides that, Its a complete runner. Naturally, after being off the road for so long, there will be a lot of tune-up, and rubber hoses to replace before I feel safe to take her on road trips. Luckily, already have disk brakes, but thats about it. Rubber carpets, no A/C. Aside from what I mentioned, I'd like to tackle the suspension first, basically chuck the FirmFeel catalog at it, and find a 8 3/4 axle. Hopefully find some early bumpers/brackets to suck the bumpers back in where they belong. Eventually swap in a 5.9 Magnum and A518 trans.

Hey Neil. Glad you joined the forum. Looks like you have a project on your hands. Another b body saved by local hero.

Welcome from Maine! Yeah suck to have to eat the back money. But what else is there to do if you want to register etc? Good pickup and it will be good to get back on road. Good luck!!

Welcome from MI. That'll be a nice daily driver.

Welcome and If you wait until next January the fees will drop off, its going to take a while to get it on the road anyway, good luck with the project... Garlic Capital of the World...

My daughter lives in the Garlic Capitol, so I'm there every weekend! I used to live off of 6th and Church. Car is currently in Hollister, and was hoping to drive it home to San Jose once the reg is done and I get some new wheels and tires. :)

Are you sure the fees will drop off in January? I think what happened is I screwed myself. Thinking about it, I handed over the paperwork with a reg card from 2002. 99% sure its my bad and that it was put back into the system. So might be another 10 years. :angryfire:

After ten years the system drop cars that have gone unregistered, but if you have already started the re-registration then it is too late and you would have to wait another ten years. I live near the old High school off 10th and Orchard...

I see you met BILL. he is a cherry farmer out of hollister. He is an interesting man that once had 17 winged cars parked under his pole barn.

He owned the highest optioned 69 daytona at one time.

I bought several mopars and engines from him in 2011-2012.

I remember the wagon being there.

Bill is a family friend! We met him when my dad started Monterey Bay Mopars back in the 80's. I've bought a few Mopar trucks from him over the years. I've just recently convinced him to turn the wagon loose, he was keeping it for parts. ;)

I'm pretty sure I've driven by your house years back, and you had a e-body parked out front. A 70 Dodge Challenger, if memory serves.

Finally getting some work done. Just need a 8 3/4 (should have one in the next week, just need the perches welded up in the correct location) and the driveline swapping/build can begin!

Well, finding a 8.75 rear axle has been near impossible, Sooo, I found a bolt in 9.25.
