Any awesome 60s/70s/80s pics with you people in front of your cars when you were young? Lets see some bell bottoms and slot mags!!

I'll lead off here.....

A couple shots of my 62 Plymouth Fury bought from a local Detroit downriver area Buick dealer in 1964..... first Mopar.... 318 4bbl.... red w/red interior, red line tiger paw tires in front. I later installed ET spoke "mag's" up front with chrome reverse steel wheels in the rear. Notice the black out grille treatment...
That's my buddies 62 Dart in the drive, W/57 Plymouth "cone" wheel covers... very "IN".
In 64 I was a HS senior in my 1st graduating class.

Perfect. I just love old photos. 62s are super tough. It's sad to think what the in cars are now.

Not a Mopar but I bought this car in 1976 when I was 26. That is me leaning against it in front of my old home and the others are taken in the same spot in front of my home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Hard to see me but I had shoulder length hair and a full beard and was a strapping 190lbs. about 40lbs. lighter than my fatness of today.:eusa_boohoo:

It was a 1958 fuel injected 290 h.p. 4 speed Corvette with power windows and power top with 44,000 miles. It was the original paint silver blue with inca silver cove insert, silver blue interior, and silver blue convert top. I paid top dollar for it of $6300. and sold it in 1984 to a guy in New Zealand for $15K. A few years later they were selling for north of $60K when we had the first big upsurge in muscle car prices, oh well.

It is the one car that over the years I wish I had never sold.

696pack, not a Mopar but gorgeous. That tops the list of some of the cars that "got away".

In 40+ years I have had many that other people would say the same about but that was the one for me, many second closes.

No pics. lost over the years, not a mopar but was rare!64 Chevelle El Camino 327,fuel injected,4 spd and buckets with console, let my dad use it for trade on a67 Dart.when I went in the army.Didn't realize how rare it was(1 of 50 built) After that a 62 impala ss 409-409 hp 4spd. stolen & stripped, then my first true mopar 64 SF hardtop max wedge with 727.Still have it to this day in process of restoring it to original!

I had a 47 Plymouth coupe, metalic blue with chrome slots. Wasn't fast but it would go anywhere.

My first car in high school was a 1969 Triumph GT6+, fun little car. But when I was in the USAF I picked up a 70 Coronet that I drove for a couple years when I was in my early 20's.

I was already in love with Mopars when I was in grade school - my best friend's father raced a Challenger Funny Car and was pretty successful. His Challenger was actually reproduced in the Johnny Lightning Funny Car series a few years ago.

73 Cuda 340. Autumn bronze metallic with black top and interior. Great car. When anyone from highschool runs into me that is the first thing out of there mouth. "You still got the Cuda?" I have to say no bot I have Duster,Scamp and Satellite. They just don't have the appeal the Cuda had.

I inherited my dads 71 Plymouth Satellite station wagon in 1974. Took my driving test with it, slant 6 with manuel steering. He lost his license so I was the family taxi driver. sorry no pics, I was the only kid who drove a station wagon to High School in my town.

my first one was a 70 charger R/T only drove it twice never could get the tired 440 to run right , wish i still had that car and my mullet .

my third mopar was that 69 blue road runner

mY 1ST CAR WAS a 70 440-6 cuda burnt orange. matching#'s rran 12.20's and with a few direct connection parts including a new solid cam, i dipped into the very high 11's
then traded it for a 73 340 duster 4 speed black w/white interior and white stripes with hurst super shifter,4.56 gears and super stock springs. best was a 11.97.

2nd Mopar

A couple shots of my 62 Plymouth Fury.

I sold the 62 to a friend who kept bugging me to sell it.... and bought this 66 Satellite, used, in late 1966. It was a triple black 383 4 speed.... and ran really well.

I love the Satellite. Wish my b body was a 4 speed. I keep thinking of swapping one in since my car isn't anything overly special. I set a bench seat hurst shifter on the hump and it sure felt good to pretend! Thanks for the pics guys. Keep them coming!

A12...first new car

I sold the 62 to a friend who kept bugging me to sell it.... and bought this 66 Satellite, used, in late 1966. It was a triple black 383 4 speed.... and ran really well.[/QUOTE]

This is what I flipped the 66 satellite for....And the story behind it. You guys from the "Lift off Hood: site have seen this, but I thought the folks here might enjoy it too.

My summer, fall and winter of 1968 and into the spring of 1969 was spent keeping my head below the sandbags in South Viet Nam. I was able to convince my brother to send a car magazine now and then and dreamed about the Hemi GTX that was destined to be mine upon return to the world, (that means home to a GI). Well, I survived all the bad moons and returned home to Lincoln Park, (a downriver sub of Detroit) in March of 1969 where I was glad to be reunited with my trusty 1966 triple black Plymouth Satellite 383 4speed. My brother was in charge of it during my absence and had let his girl friend drive it who then rear ended another car. It was fixed when I got home except the front bumper, which was gone. Oh, well.
After a couple days of "hi... how are ya's" I headed to Downriver Chrysler/Plymouth in nearby Southgate Michigan. My dad had bought several Chryslers and Imperials there and I had always kept my eye on the car lot as many interesting machines would turn up on the lot.
I was excited at the thought of ordering the Hemi GTX and got hooked up with
ed Rushlow, a salesman who was more than happy to talk about it. I was working my way down the option list and the GTX was taking shape on the order pad. We were discussing tire size options when he located a memo in his in box on his desk. It was a one page sheet, new product bulletin and it outlined the A12 option on the Road Runner. He showed it to me and the list of equipment was impressive! Basicly a hemi car but with a 440 and three two bbl carbs. AND a NASCAR style lift off fiberglass hood with a scoop....... Whats THAT all about...? He didn't know either.
Just for curiosity we spec'ed one out and he quoted me a price. It came in around $1500.00 less then the Hemi GTX we had on paper!!! HUMMMmmmmmmmm..... now I had something to think about. A 440 with three 2BBLs in a Road Runner sounded like one bad *** car to me.
Asside from being my primary car I had visions of some racing at Detroit dragway and some street racing on Telegraph rd. and Woodward ave. (Although I think it was illegal to do that). I was familure with the high maintance the Hemi engine required to stay running well and so the multi carb 440 was sounding pretty good.
I left the order in limbo, told the salesman I had to think about it, and left. There was another Chrysler/Plymouth dealer, (Buckingham CP), not far away so I thought...... compare pricing.... I walked in, found a salesman, which is not that hard to do, and asked for a price quote on a Road Runner with a 440 3 2BBL engine. He looked at me like I was a Chevy guy and said..."you can't get a 440 in a Road Runner" It's a 383 or Hemi. He had not heard about the A12 package.
I was convinced, that got me fired up and I returned to the first dealership, found Ed and said, "sign me up"!
I ordered a 69 Road Runner coupe with the A12, automatic, all tinted glass in T5 bronze fire metallic with black interior.
There was a new fm radio station in Detroit at the time that played only rock music.... WABX..... the "Air Aces". I got to thinking and called the salesman later that evening and added a am/fm radio.
Then it began.... the wait. This was to be my first new car, ever! And I had no idea what I had ordered. There were no A12's at the dealership, no one I knew had seen, or even heard of one. The salesman didn't even have a picture. Nothing was ever said about the cars being built on only two dates and my car was scheduled for 4/26.... this was early March! It was agonizing...!
I did receive a call from the salesman at the second dealership I visited, (He had taken my contact info), sometime in late March. He had one on the showroom floor. I headed straight over there and WOW!!!!! It was awesome. My first incounter. It was a Ralley Green hardtop with a 4 speed and black vinyl top. It looked menicing with the black hood and huge scoop, redlines and no hub caps. He offered it to me and it was tempting but I decided to wait for the one I had ordered.
I got the call sometime in early May..... my Runner was here! I will never forget walking into the service area and seeing it just as it had been unloaded off the truck. It was to be prepped and I could get it the next day.
I got off work and went by the house. My dad and brother went with me to the dealership and as soon as we turned into the drive.... there it was, parked directly in front of the entrance to the showroom. BUT wait...... It has a set of Dodge dog dish hubcaps on it.... whats up with that....? Apparently the prep guys didn't know about the hubcap delete thing. They thought the factory had forgotten to put the caps in the car and so got a set of Dodge caps from the parts dept and put them on. I may have taken delivery of the only A12 to come with hub caps.... LOL.
The saga continues from there with many great and memoral times crusing the streets, Woodward ave, drive-ins, girls. It was a magic time and I wished I had been more aware of that then. It was a machine in a time that will never be duplicated.

Great story. I served from graduation from Wilbur Wright in Detroit in 1966 until coming back home to Detroit in 1970. Bought a 1970 Barracuda at Thompson-Todd on Michigan Ave. Street raced Telegraph, "Airport Road", and Woodward also. We may have crossed paths.
