Holden Astra electric power steering pump

So early days with my roadrunner but my power steering was struggling and loud with a wobbly pulley. I have started the installation of a Holden Astra electric pump which seems to be common here on old school cars. I’m mounting in in my front guard behind my headlight. Has anyone else tried this pump mod?

I like the idea, most modern cars have electric steering. Can you post your install?

I've heard and read over here they use a Volvo electric pump. Most I've seen are in Mustangs and have rack and pinion steering. The down sides I can think of if the electrical load and the pump volume/ pressure for a non rack and pinion.

Ok so pump is installed and running. It is loud but you can’t hear it when the engine is running mine is mounted behind headlights. Works like a dream and removes a pulley and belt which I can replace with aircon!

Are you going right into a stock mopar power steering box? Looking at doing this for my 70 RR.

Does the pump run on demand? Or constantly? Do you know what the amp draw is?

I put a relay in so it kicks in 30 seconds after ignition is turned on. I’m not sure what amps it draws mate but haven’t had any issues with it running yet.

Apparently the pump is too high pressure for hydro booster I wanted to do the same. I went a willwood booster delete master cylinder in the end.

It was going into stock steering box I’ve put a boregeson one in now though.
