Hey all-
I've just procured and installed a factory 4 barrel intake on this 440.
Fetched a new version of the venerable Holley 3310 750cfm vacuum secondary carb, just like I used to years ago....
and just discovered interference from the linkage on both sides of the carb.
The secondary lever under the diaphragm on the passenger side binds on the lip of the intakes' choke "stove" and the idle swing jobber thingy in the linkage on the drivers' side scrapes the lump in the casting.

Sheesh.

Apparently, I'm going to have to use a carb spacer?

No, I'm not going to put a Carter/Edelbrock on it, just looking tips from others who have gone this route.

Also, how does one use a factory unsilenced air cleaner on this carb? I take it I'll need to use an air cleaner spacer there, too?
Thanks!

Sometimes, I bend things to make them work. As far as the air cleaner, I had one on an 850 a few years ago, don't recall any problem with it. (Although , now as I think of it, I had it on a Holley Street Dominator intake. so maybe a spacer would be needed on a stock intake ? )

A short spacer will do the trick and the unsilenced air cleaner will fit.

Thanks everyone.
Will I also need to do something with the throttle cable holddown bracket?

You may have to bend it a bit.
Holley makes a MoPar throttle lever adapter to mount the stud.

Yep, got the Holley 20-7 bracket already.
At least I remembered that part.:icon_wink:
