Something really weird happened to my pump. I took the car out a couple weeks ago and my Holley electric black pump failed. It's about 10 years old, dropped just the bottom off it and found the vanes and gerotor a little corroded so cleaned everything up spun nice and easy and put back together.
Then on my first pass it just died on the line, electric pump feeds manual. So I just pull the Holley and put on my spare Mallory.
I put the Holley on the bench and tested electrical and now the thing flows backward. I have never opened the motor end and am lost on how this happened. Kind of weird. If I hook the wires up backwards, black-positive, all is well and works fine.

Any ideas what I did, or what it did?? Thanks.

Somehow it seems the polarization is reversed. I've never rebuilt that particular pump, so I've no idea.

That's what I was wondering if somehow when the pump section jambed it somehow forced the motor to go Australian...backwards. Just kind of weird. Thanks all.

Although I've had great luck with Holley fuel pumps I'm amazed you got 10 years out of it.
Throw it out and buy a new one...

May be a good idea to get a new one, althought these black gerotor pumps are not cheap. I got one I took off my last car, I may put in on my current car. Maybe you switched something reversed when you put it back together ?

I've kind of been looking at some of the magna fuel and aeromotive stuff. I got rid of the mechanical pump and put the holley on and going to try it tomorrow. I thought I must have done something backwards too. But I never had the electrical side of it apart and the gerotor, flipping that over, didn't change a thing. At least it works for now I guess. I know I'm obtunded often but usually still somewhat capable!!

ironside, im a product engineering dealer. go on their website and look at their products. john over at product engineering was the original owner of magnafuel who sold the business years ago and restarted up product engineering. his fuel pumps are better than magnafuels with an extra vane in it. they run cooler and more efficient. his products are top notch.best in the business.
