Holley sniper Hyperspark location suggestions

That reads like it was written by Chall70.

I'll stop offering my advice now...it's not worth it sometimes.
I do appreciate your advice but I’m not just gonna go off your word. I just asked a question just like I questioned what I read in that pic. I don’t like being unsure about something. Just trying to do some research and absorb some knowledge that’s all. Thanks

My hyper spark coil is mounted above the ecu on the passenger side of the rad. but I only have a 22” radiator. I use a single road runner horn to give me room. If I had an engine with distributor in rear I might be inclined to mount ecu under dash……
I think Holley has come out with a smaller hyper spark ecu that could give you more mounting flexibility
i mounted my e.c.u under the dash on the driver kick panel . if you look back on how the car manufactory's did there early e c u installs they were in the kick panels them moved to a shielded placement as other component's were interfering with speed signals and others. ad around a battery may get battery acid on or it get in to the wiring or e c u so take your time setting things up and test fit where you want it.

Got out to the garage to take a picture, hyperspark coil, ECU location on my Sniper equipped 66 Charger. No issues and completed Rock Mountain race week last year

That’s we’re I’m putting mine. Holley said it will be ok. Really appreciate the pic. We’re did you run your wiring?

the 4 speed oval grommet i cut to fit the harness then pushed the harness thru the fire wall then snap the grommet in place like factory the silver is a Velcro heat shield wrap

Red and white wire runs near heater hoses back to firewall. The other wires run behind alternator up to the distributor, wiring from Sniper to distributor and ECU runs under the intake manifold, heat riser passage is blocked

The Hyperspark box can be mounted as close to the coil as you want. They do not affect each other as far as RFI is concerned.
What you want to avoid is placing the coil or any ignition wiring close to Sniper's ECU (the throttle body).

The last Sniper I had hands on we installed the Hyperspark under the battery tray ('69 Belvedere). Coil was mounted on the passenger side fenderwell, fore of the shock tower area about halfway up from the frame rail. "Origcharger's" pictured location is just as good.
That allows the wires that connect the Hyperspark ECU to the coil to be run up around the core support under the top lip with the headlight harness, nowhere near Sniper's throttle body. Owner's had no RFI problems.

I've seen several Sniper installs get the RFI bug that all had carefully routed and even grounded-shield wiring. The causes have been traced to metal air cleaners, distributors that sit right up against the throttle body (ford problem mostly), the use of non-supression type plug wires and use of stock alternators.

I ended up mounting mine on the passenger side inner fender. Just need to cut another stainless plate for my coil. I put spacers behind them and used stainless bolts n nuts.

I’m trying to get a idea on we’re to mount my Hyperspark on my 66. Would like to see we’re any of y’all have put yours. Much appreciated
I mounted the coil on the inner fender, and the ignition box on the rad support (to keep it cool) behind the grille. 1967 Satellite 383.

I installed mine under the dash behind the glove box for exactly the same reasons. Out of the heat, away from any EMI noise, short wire run through the firewall, under the intake to the coil/dist. Been working great and one less thing under the hood.
I don't have a sniper, but all my electronic ignition boxes, MSD or Mallory, are mounted high up in the passenger footwell, for the exact reasons above. I would do the same with a sniper.

What is attached to your ignition box? Also what is the Holley plate that looks like it’s signed?
I made a bracket and put my last name.
Used 4 MSD rubber mounts to attach it to the plate. Also 3/4 square tube, that I capped the ends. It fits snug in the lower dash channel under the glove box.
4 screws and a plug, makes it easy to remove the module from the plate.
