Posting this in the hopes that it might help someone else one day.....

I have been making some adjustments lately just to get stuff right ...or better at least.

First up, I replaced the 96" long throttle cable, in favour of a more sedate 72" cable. Remember I have a cab-over design, so everything is way different to a car.

Next, I had to order a spacer (based on online recommendations) for the pedal assembly. That has just arrived this week, so will be fitted today/tomorrow.

I also ordered a Holley 20-16 throttle arm extension kit. I have just finished fitting that arm.....and it was not quite as easy as they say. Online feedback is at best misleading, and at worst downright BS. Holley says "some spacer washers may be needed" ....No sh+t Sherlock....... they didn't say anything about the kickdown ball-stud flange nut being a problem. Anyhoo....with some perseverance and a few cuss words, it is fitted and working now.

Part of the shipment that arrived was a new PCV - supposedly correct for the Sniper (or any EFI system) - small fixed orifice instead of regular large and variable internals. I discovered this by trawling through online forums where people had issues with the blow-by or rough idle conditions. Every little piece of information helps.

Hoping to alter the pedal spacer soon, then get the pedal and throttle adjustments finessed, and be up for putting the carpet down again. Part of those adjustments include the new bell-crank system for re-directing the throttle cable to make a softer pedal.
I need to be running next week for my 6-monthly 'safety checks' so I can cruise to my buddy's mini car show/60th party later in November.

:xscuseless:

I have also bought a 1/2" phenolic spacer, but I will wait to see how things go before making more alterations. I only bought that to combat heat-sink.....which hopefully is partially achieved by the constant flow of fuel from the tank and back to the return line.

At least that's the way I understand it.

so what do you think of the sniper system I assume you have had this running for a bit, I tried the fitech 3x2 a real p.o.s. left a bad taste in my mouth, heard better things about the fitech 4 barrel set ups and even better about sniper.

Same here went through 3 modules ended up keeping the throttle bodies & used a Fast sportsman with weld in Injectors

I actually like it way more over the carburettor. But then mine has been relatively trouble-free. Sure, I have made tweaks, and I have had a couple of problems.

But not once have I thrown my wrenches and said I'm going back to a carb.

IMHO the EFI system is superior. I won't go back. I did have an electrical plug fall off an injector - that is down to Holley using cheaper plugs. I have since purchased better quality plugs, but I also deployed the 5-cent repair on all four plugs - a small zip-tie to hold it where it should be.

Sniper has had it's fair share of critics, but on the whole, I am in favour of it and will recommend to anyone thinking about converting.

I like the idea of FI, and I will end up doing it again, but when you have a flawed setup like i did. don't get me wrong I fought that sob for months, I did get it running, started up idled great but it always just wasnt quite there. thanks for the response.

Just as a side note, technically speaking, I do not believe you don't need to worry about heatsink as much as you do with a carb... simply because there is very, very little fuel being housed in the sniper. if you're using a return line, then you have cool fuel running constantly at 59 psi. Actually, one of the nice things is installing with a return line, remove the sniper's internal regulator, and use a bypass fuel regulator after the sniper... then you have full return flow making the fuel going into the engine relatively the same temp as in the tank.

Thank you.....I thought as much, but I bought a spacer just in case I ever need it

I've looked at those over the years, never clicked when money was available or room in the shop. Excuse my ignorance of the name Bill Golden, I assume he must have been the guy that ran one of those back in the day?

Bill 'Maverick' Golden was the guy who popularised the art of wheel-standing....with his famous Little Red Wagon (s).

Bill managed to wreck at least four of them over the years....he was a lucky survivor each time.
