Mike, Nice work on your hood scoop. I especially like the front edge. The 1964 Dodge is much easier with the inner bracing the way they are. I didn't have to cut any of it out, and with the air box I used and the "butt ugly" hood scoop, it finally worked out pretty well in the end. I am using the flat base ( offset cause the engine is not centered in the hood) on the air cleaner so that it's easier to get to carb adjustments I did have to go from a 2" phenolic carb spacer to a 1" to make room for the air intake hoses. BTW check out Spectre flexible duct plastic like hose that uses "threaded" on connectors . A little pricey , but well worth the trouble it saves. Easy to form and re-form and hold its shape. Steve, I'm using a 4"x16" filter so I cut a 19" circle out of the skin and a 22" out of the reinforcement. I will build a cylindrical aluminum air box to seal to the hood so I feed all fresh air to the engine. Thanks!

Yeah, that no doubt will outrun my Dodge. Is that really your car? Lets see more pictures of it, so I can criticize.. I am sure I can find something on it that is "butt ugly" lmao....................MO

Just being a wise *** here. I have never got straight on how to post pics, I don`t even know how I got my avatar pics on here and fabo. Was trying to figure it out and stumbled on to it , but can`t remember ! Pics on the telephone or email only. Door handles, and tail light housings "ARE" butt ugly. Got to stop spending money somewhere !

Have u thot about an offset air cleaner base? I used one to center my filter in the hood, it is also a dropped one..--6 pack scoop, w/ 4" filter.

I picked up a 16" sealed unit to modify and use as a NASCAR style cowl induction on my 65. After I slipped the engine/trans back in for more mock up, I see that the unit is going to be too tall. I don't want to cut my flat hood. Back to the drawing board. What I came up with is make a unit from scratch using the spacer ring, needed it to clear the rails and tb arm of the FAST tb, as the base. Started making a plenum that will have a base to attach the filter and outer section with spring clips off an OE a/f unit. The outer portion will be attached at the firewall to the opening I made. I ended up with a filter for a 14- Vette, with blower although n/a and blown use the same one. I was thinking of using an element for my 04 Cummins but its too big to fit there unless I modify the rails. Wanted a filter that would have enough surface area so flow is not restricted. The first part of the t/b unit I made up on my Lazze english wheel then used my Lazze shrinker/stretcher to curve it around. This weekend I'll continue filling in the blanks.
