Hood hinge issue - 71 Charger

The hinge on the left is from a 70 Challenger and the one on the right is the one I got with my 71 Charger. I have to say that they seem pretty close overall.

Thanks for posting. Both of my Challenger hinges look like the blue one on the right (no teeth). The difference is my passenger side hinge has the "long" center bar while the driver's side has the short center bar. The long center bar hinge works perfectly and is aligned to the fender when closed. The driver's side doesn't.

I think you need to get 2 new hinges or perhaps just one that matches one of yours. I know that both my 70 Challenger and my 73 Cuda have teeth in the hinges. Also I just got my new hinges for my Charger from Classic (AMD) and they have teeth like the 71 Charger

I'm looking at a 1970 set (with teeth) for sale but I'd like to find only the driver's side hinge that matches my passenger's side.

I agree. I'm looking at a 1970 set (with teeth) for sale but I'd like to find a driver's side hinge that matches my passenger's side hinge. Thanks for your information and good luck with your new hinges for your Charger!

Personally I'd recommend just buying a new set if you can afford it because whatever you buy used is going to likely have issues that will require more money. That said you can re-peen the rivets and get them to work much better but it requires a oxy/acetylene torch, a vise and a hammer.

I had this trick where when I am talking with chicks I causally lean on the back of the hood pressing it down into place before anyone noticed it!

Thanks. Do you know what vendor sells the best hinges?

I think there is only one company making them which is AMD so anything that you would find would be coming from them. Therefore I would check out Classic or Roseville Moparts, etc. to find the best deal.

I was going to say Eddie Motorsports, but it doesn’t look like they make the for a 71. I had them on my 68 and I liked them.

I was referring specifically to stock style hinges, I don't know if anyone makes billet hinges for 71-74 B bodies but I am inclined to think that E body hinges are the same although I don't know for sure.
