Hood Pins : What Where When and Why?

Trans dapt makes a barrel lock hood pin with stainless plates and can be found at Summit.

My friend's Mustang had different hood securement ; they were a push and twist design, factory installed.

I almost mentioned those.

I believe there were some with "barrel" locks that took keys like a vending machine.

Those don't lock, though. My only reason to add hood pins to my '70 Charger is the lack of an interior release, anybody can open the hood from the front.
No, they don't lock. But the title of this thread was merely "hood pins", not theft securement. I can appreciate wanting to have the hood fully locked.

My 72 satellite has an interior hood release. Just a cable under the dash attached to the latch, like the big external handle but smaller so you can't just grab it from the outside. Get a choke cable kit, cut down the exterior handle, drill a hole, mount the cable and go.

You could always put a lock mechanism on the exterior release. Very popular with Jeepers for CJs, TJs, YJs...
