Time for new tires. I currently have MT ET Street 31X14.50's and they are worn out. Looking at Hoosier Quick Time Pro's, however they do not make a 31X14.50, they make a 31X13.50. When looking at specs they both show 11" of tread width. Any opinions on the Hoosier's would be appreciated. Not worried about which will wear out faster, just want a tire that will hook! The 14.50 is as wide as I can fit!

Yes...great thread...lets have opinions on the best tire for mid 10 second cars.
My mini-tub inboard springs setup will allow for 13.2 section width and 11.25 tread width.

I have no experience with a slick that wide...but if I were you, I would look into the M/T pro bracket radials. I was just at a big dollar bottom bulb race this weekend and seen quite a few of the cars using these slicks. They dont make a slick in my size (30x9), if they did that would have been the slick I bought when i was looking to get a new set last month. My Hoosier radials are a great slick but can be a bit touchy on a marginal "hot' race track.

Thanks RacerAl! Are the Hoosiers you have a DOT tire, or a straight slick? Looking for something I can occasionally drive on the street. Mike we can fit about the same size tire I can go to a 32 but really like the stance of my car right now and want to stay with a 31 tall tire.

The tire i run is a straight slick with a radial sidewall. Almost all of the NHRA/IHRA stockers use them. They are lightweight and need very little burnout. I run 21 psi in them with consistent 1.46-1.48 60 ft times in my 3555lb. car.

My tire is only 28" tall and I don't want to go taller. I have a 4.30 gear ratio with the 28" tall tire. A taller 31 or 32 tire would make my 4.30 more like a 4.10. I go thru the lites now at 6400-6500 rpm which is 125.5 to 126.5 mph give or take a 10th. I would like a taller tire for more "contact"....I should have installed a 4.56 rather than the 4.30 but it is too late now...so I have to stick with 28" tall tires to keep my ratio... I am afraid if I went to a taller tire and reduced my ratio from 4.30 to 4.10 by the taller tire then I would lose performance....ANY OPINIONS ON THIS WOULD BE HELPFUL.

I have been very impressed w/ the hoosiers I`ve had !

I have used Goodyear, Hoosier, MT, but the best tire I think is Phoenix

Canyon707, which Phoenix tire have you tried. Went to their website and looked at the cheater slick in the size I need. Hoping I can get my car to hook like yours one day! I have the setup and the motor but lack experience in the ladder bar / coil over tuning.

Thanks for that compliment. The tires are 28.5 x 12.5 which if I remember correctly. Run 11.5 lbs in a 3100 driver and car. The key to setting up ladder bars after installing is getting the car corner balanced. This provided weight transfer and straight launches. This huge and once it's done right you will feel the difference immediately. You car will perform.

I run Hoosier qtp's on both my cars. I won't buy anything else. I run the snot out of them on the street and they hook hard at the track..

68 Hemi GTS, Thanks for that, I have them in my cart at Summit and was waiting to hear some reviews on them. Not a lot of choices for a DOT tire! At $260 a piece not a bad price. Appreciate the reply.

My dart usually does a 1.45 60ft on them.

I had the ET streets, the new ones are ET /STREET R.They seem to hook better.I fit the 16.5X31. IMOP you can't run a tire in the street and expect great porformance at the track. I have a set of M/T E/t drag 10.5W for the track.

I use the Hoosier 30 x 9 radial slicks and I drive on the street with them all the time. I am very happy with them as my car is very consident on them. Ron

How are you guys even running a tire taller than 30"? I get your probably mini tubbed but you must have replaced the entire wheel well instead of just stretching the factory ones. I've always thought My Mini tubbed 66 with the rear moved back 1" (using US CAR TOOL inboard kit) would only support a 30" maximum tire diameter?

Thanks Hemi-Itis, I'm torn between having two sets. A street set and a track set. I would rather just have one since it is street driven quite often. Ron, now you got me thinking to ditch the quick time pros and just get a straight slick and drive it in the street. My car will never see a drive in the rain. Thanks for the photos you guys have awesome cars!!

29.5 on my dart. IMO there probably as good as a slick if your car is set up.
