Hopefully last snowfall of the season.

In 2013 it snowed a foot on May 2.
I had already planted 200+ acres of corn.
Luckily it wasn't up yet so it was unaffected.

So you plant that early?
I'm trying to grow corn for the first time
This year.
Any tips for a idiot novice?
Did really good with half the garden last year
Beans,peppers,tomatoes cukes did very well
Also grew about a dozen water melons
The deer and ground hogs did get in
And they tore up our pumpkins mfers
This year we are ready and we built
A real wall to keep the illegals out lol

Ain't no way any critter will get in..

If your planting sweet corn be prepared for the racoons to attack about 2 days before you go to pick your first ears. Deer like it when the corn starts to tassle. They will go right down the row and eat all the new silk coming out of the ears.

Sweet corn needs to be planted later in may in your region. It is not as hardy as the field corn we grow out here. No need to add much if any for fertilizer. Plant corn where you had beans last year. Beans put nitrogen in the ground that the corn will use. Till under all the residue from last years crop. It will break down and provide nutrients for the next crop. If you have poor soil you may add a little fertilizer to start with but you dont need much and wont need to add any more for several years. You are not pulling off high yields like a commercial operation so a little goes a long way in a garden.

Can't plant before April 15. Crop insurance won't cover it.
I usually plant my sweet corn in 3 patches 5 days apart.
Don't plant it all at once. Plant some on the 1st of may and then more a week later.
Make sure it gets nitrogen and phosphorus.
Are there any good farm supply stores in your area?

Ain't no critter getting in this year..lol
7ft high chicken wire dug a foot and a half
Down in the ground and buried then 7 foot deer netting over that then we are putting a bird net roof over the whole thing..
3 layers over 7 feet high and a roof
If they get through all of that
They earned it..lol

Just for good measure hang one of these to keep the coons out.

I had like 27 hours of seat time in my Dodge Ram plowing.Them snowflakes are about 10 cents each to me and helps the hot rod budget!
In the Villages we do,have to drop the blade at 3 inches!Hard to keep up when it's falling at 3 or 4 inches an hour!

My tool of choice is a Case Backhoe.
All of my snow removal sites are within 2 miles of my house.
I have a old truck and old blade as well as a tractor and snowblower. But at the end of the day the old 'hoe does me the best.

Well i guess we should pray for more snow. Lol for the hotrod.

Well my power has been out for 24hrs now and it looks like atleast another day or so we have 2 poles down in the field below my house.

looks like a hell of a little machine there
is it heated inside?
i guess you need it if you live close to Maine! lol

I found that barely used (minus the cab) down on Long Island 2 years ago & got it at a good deal. I later added the cab, with additional lights, wiper and heater. It is sweet and even Submit likes using it.

It's been beautiful here in Colorado. I have half of the summer cars out of storage and i see some green in the lawn, It must have been in the 70's today. Those early spring flowers, Crocasis? are popping up. Sorry I don't l know dick about plants.

Well it's supposed to snow another 6" and get into the single digits tonight.

WTF!?!
