I know there have been some complaints about this guy and company before, but haven't seen a thread dedicated to their incompetence yet.

Dash-Masters, Alan Fox....STAY AWAY!!

Ive been looking for a replacement dash pad for my 72 rr GTX since my temporary fix dash cap cracked. As 71-74 guys know, there aren't many quality replacements out there. While at Carlisle this year, I saw a bunch of new pads at a vendors spot, so I stop to look and discuss. They were all E body, he said he was sold out of 71-74 B body. I asked how much, he said $300 if I paid for it there on the spot and he would ship it to me as soon as he got back to Texas. I didn't like that so I decided to wait.

I called him to see if he would be at Nationals, he actually answered his phone and said he would. I asked if he was bringing 71-74 pads, he said he was but they were all spoken for besides 2 of them and if I wanted one of those I would have to give him my credit card info on the phone and pay, and I could pick it up at Nats. I was hesitant, but I really need this damn dash, so I did it, knowing I could always have my CC company cancel the transaction.

I was unable to go to Nats, but I had my buddy go pick up my paid in full pad from Alan. Alan says, "oh, I don't have it here, there was a problem with production, it had a void in it, leave me his address and I will mail it to him at no charge". My friend, who is a E body parts dealer, knew something was up. Alan did not have any b body pads there, I called him that Saturday, not happy, he said he has it back at his shop and would mail as soon as he got back on Monday and email me tracking info. Monday, Tuesday, weds, thurs, fri pass, I don't hear from him, I finally get a hold of him. I told him he had till the close of business that day to get me a tracking number or the transaction would be cancelled. I get the email, the pad finally arrives this past Friday.

Overall quality of pad isn't pad, could be better. However, there are 3 huge defects in the dash, right above the wood grain insert on the passenger side where the pad did not form correctly. These are plain as day and look terrible, one is the size of my thumb and could be seen by Helen keller. I paid for a new product, not some half asssed job. I am not going through all the work of replacing my dash pad with something that looks terrible. I immediately call alan, email alan, no response. Here we are Tuesday afternoon and he is a ghost.

My credit card company is going to cancel the transaction and block dash masters. We'll see if Alan calls me back then. Stay away from this vendor, just an awful experience, I gave him the benefit of the doubt after seeing his BBB page, but was wrong.

My rant is over...

Hard to tell from the pics, but is the graining bad or is it a coloring problem? If it's the coloring, you could get a can of SEM's Landau Black and give it a top coat to blend it all the same. Just a thought.Good Luck

The problem is there is no grain in the defects, they are discolored and smooth, painting it would only change the color of the defects. I paid for a new product, not some half assed hack job.

Is that the Alan Fox from Ultimate Rides that did the Nash Bridges car ? If so I can understand !!

I notified my credit card company to cancel the transaction this morning. Shockingly, after not returning any of my calls or emails for the past week, Alan called and emailed me today. He is supposedly sending me a return label. I don't like dealing with untrustworthy people, I am taking my business elsewhere, even if I have to spend a little more money.

I feel your pain man! I am dealing with another company, but I now suspect they are sourcing their stuff from Alan, as now they have sent me 3 pads, and each one gets worse then the one before it. Now I am stuck with one that has a huge mark on it that looks almost exactly like what you show in your pictures. I am still waiting to see if they are going to send me another one. I guess I should have kept the first one as it had some issues in the vinyl, but now small in comparison to what this latest one is like. None of them have fit properly and have a huge noticeable gap between the pad and the speaker cover. I would rather use my original that has three cracks in it, would look better then what I have now. I wish someone would step up and make a good part.

If all you have is 3 cracks, I've heard of guys gluing/epoxy the cracks back together, sand them smooth, then actually spraying them with cheapo Duplicolor rattlecan bedliner and then paint. Supposedly that bedliner is a really close match to the original vinyl texture. Never done it myself but just a thought.

I think that restoring my original is possible with out stripping off the original vinyl, I was thinking the same thing, but not texturing, the cracks may be small enough that if they are sealed, the entire dash could be resprayed to match and hide where the repairs were done. May have someone that can do that kind of work, but its a last resort if I don't end up getting a decent dash pad.

Yeah if you're precise enough with the glue you probably wouldn't have to worry about texturing. The SEM colorcoat I use to redye vinyl is pretty thick stuff and could probably hide the repairs.

Sorry to hear about your experience as well. Did you use a CC? I had my company cancel the transaction and he responded immediately. He wanted me to send him my core as well, but I decided against it and glad I didn't. I was supposed to hear from him Tuesday when his "new shipment" of 71-74 dashes came in.

Thanks for the contact info.

Cash. I'm out $250.

I ordered a dash from Classic Industries which arrived last week. Darker than expect but looks good (no blemishes or cracks).

I also went to the mopar nats in ohio in aug and seen alan foxx there with all kinds of dashpads laying on the ground..the dashpad was the last thing on my long list of parts for my 71 roadrunner which was the reason I attended the nats,,after looking at all his pads laying on the ground I told him I needed a 71 b body pad and he said he sold out of all he brought but would send me one as soon as he got back to el paso..like a dummy I handed him 425.00in CASHand pulled my little wagon full of parts to my car hoping I would not get beat on the pad,,just had a bad feeling but with all them e body pads laying there and people buying them a legit receipt surely this was a legit business man..well after 4 months of unanswered emails texts full inbox on his voicemails and reading other postsand checking his bbb rating I new I pissed away 425 bucks and was feeling sick thinking about taking the 2000 plus mile trip to texas to try and get my cash back at least the wife quit bitching about it..well im on ebay and im lookingfor a dashpad still and I come across a pool supply company in el paso that just happened to be selling dashpads for my car hmmmwhat a coincedancei thought so I emailed the guy and asked about a dashpad for my duster and he quotes me a price and I ask him do you get them pads from alan at dash masters because I bought a few of them from him and they are really nice he replied yes alan is my supplier..so now my hands are starting to sweat and the wheels are turning and I email him back and tell him I seen alan at the nats and I have about 25 cores that I was going to sell him but I cant get him to answer his phone and he wont reply to my emails so I guess I will toss them cores in the dumpster unless he had a number that I could get in touch with alan,,he emailed me back and asked for my number so I gave it to him and within 15 minutes my phone rang and it was alan..now after 4 months of trying to get a hold of this idiot I was finally talking to him so he asks who is this and I proceed to tell him my name and that I paid cash for my pad at the nats and still had not received it and I still had all them cores we discussed and was wondering if you still wanted to buy them..so he asks what cores do you have and I rambled on about having 20 71-74 b bodies some a bodies and around 5 68-70 b bodies right oft the top of my head and was ready to dump them as it had been so long since I had talked to him and he wont return calls etc so he tells me to wrap them up and send them to him and I replied alan I have been waiting on my pad that I paid cash for 4 months ago and listening to my wife bitch about it and you will have to pay for the shipping and the cores before I send them ..so now he's talking to me like were best buddies so I tell him as soon as I get my pad ill send them his way and he says just tape them in bundles of ten and weigh them and he will send me a shipping label and he would be sending my pad out thur,,well another week goes by and no pad so I text him and within a couple min he texts me back that he was having problems with the pads and he wants to make sure I get a nice one and he will be sending it out fri and will send me a tracking number when he ships it,,fri comes and I get a text from him with a tracking number so I punch it in and ups site says invalid tracking number so I text him back and tell himthe news to which he replied it's shipped and when I get back to the shop ill resend the tracking number to ya ,,a hour later I had a real tracking number with a delivery date and I telt like I hit the lottery the next week I had a almost perfect pad for my roadrunner which it had one tiny spot were the grain was smooth but barely noticeable and there was no way im sending this thing back and after a week or so alan texts me and asks when am I gonna ship him them cores he has been patiently waiting my reply as to how much they weighed and how many 20 bills he owed me and I replied been busy but will get to ya soon to which he replied well I need them bad lol yeah he does ALAN IF YOUR READING THIS I WAS PULLING YOUR LEG THERE ARE NO CORES and if you weren.t such a shady businessman I would feel bad about my story telling about the cores but at least I got mine and I feel bad for the numerous good folks that you have ripped off,,hopefully someone will read this and it will prevent them from going thru what me and so many others have gone thru and I will never pay cash for any parts that I don't get to carry away at that time again lesson learned,,i cant believe that someone will actually rent you a spot to set up at the shows he is a scammer thief and I would definitely recommend staying away from him and his businesses I am propably the only person who paid cash for a pad at the nats that actually received one by ups,,and thanks Tim at the pool supply place in el paso who is selling alan;s pads on ebay for getting him to call me even though you had no idea that he was trying to rip me off thanks for the rant fbbo and I feel much better now Joe B

the one I finally recieved after 4 months had one little smooth spot like yours but it was very small and hardly noticeable and there was no way I was gonna send it back as I know I would propably never see another one from him and I guess I was lucky just to be one of the few that got something for my 425 bucks

you can fix those spots that look flat like its missing grain in it and then re color

Glad to hear you finally got your pad, and good work on the scam to get what you paid for. I'd keep him on the hook as long as possible, just short of having him send the money to you. Maybe ask him what show you can meet him at to deliver the pads in person, then message all those who have been screwed so they can meet up with him....

Why would I want to fix something I bought new and waited eternity for? Everything about Alan is shady.

This is so similar to my experience. He was supposed to deliver my paid for pad to nats but magically it wasn't there. The one thing I had going for me was I didn't give him cash, I didn't trust him, so I paid with a credit card over the phone. As soon as I threatened to have my CC cancel the transaction, boom alan was answering the phone and emails. Sadly, when I did get it, it was defective crap.

Alan was supposed to send me a return shipping slip in August, here we are in January of 2014 and still not slip and no way am I spending my $ to ship that junk back. When I get that slip I will gladly send it back, that box is taking up precious space that my dogs deserve!

Lastly, Alan definitely follows this site and reads all of these comments. I believe it was last week another unsatisfied Foxx customer started multiple threads about this scam which I of course commented on. Again, magic happened, Alan emailed me (from a completely different email than before)and asked if he could send me a return slip and get the pad back. I obliged, but still no slip.

Seems like I've been seeing threads on this guy's con-jobs a couple times a month. How the hell is he still allowed to these car shows as a "vendor"? I say "vendor" loosely as it sounds like he doesn actually do anything but shuffle around sh!tty dash pads and steal peoples' money. Glad to hear some of you were able to get your situations sorted out with him.
