I know there have been some complaints about this guy and company before, but haven't seen a thread dedicated to their incompetence yet.
Dash-Masters, Alan Fox....STAY AWAY!!
Ive been looking for a replacement dash pad for my 72 rr GTX since my temporary fix dash cap cracked. As 71-74 guys know, there aren't many quality replacements out there. While at Carlisle this year, I saw a bunch of new pads at a vendors spot, so I stop to look and discuss. They were all E body, he said he was sold out of 71-74 B body. I asked how much, he said $300 if I paid for it there on the spot and he would ship it to me as soon as he got back to Texas. I didn't like that so I decided to wait.
I called him to see if he would be at Nationals, he actually answered his phone and said he would. I asked if he was bringing 71-74 pads, he said he was but they were all spoken for besides 2 of them and if I wanted one of those I would have to give him my credit card info on the phone and pay, and I could pick it up at Nats. I was hesitant, but I really need this damn dash, so I did it, knowing I could always have my CC company cancel the transaction.
I was unable to go to Nats, but I had my buddy go pick up my paid in full pad from Alan. Alan says, "oh, I don't have it here, there was a problem with production, it had a void in it, leave me his address and I will mail it to him at no charge". My friend, who is a E body parts dealer, knew something was up. Alan did not have any b body pads there, I called him that Saturday, not happy, he said he has it back at his shop and would mail as soon as he got back on Monday and email me tracking info. Monday, Tuesday, weds, thurs, fri pass, I don't hear from him, I finally get a hold of him. I told him he had till the close of business that day to get me a tracking number or the transaction would be cancelled. I get the email, the pad finally arrives this past Friday.
Overall quality of pad isn't pad, could be better. However, there are 3 huge defects in the dash, right above the wood grain insert on the passenger side where the pad did not form correctly. These are plain as day and look terrible, one is the size of my thumb and could be seen by Helen keller. I paid for a new product, not some half asssed job. I am not going through all the work of replacing my dash pad with something that looks terrible. I immediately call alan, email alan, no response. Here we are Tuesday afternoon and he is a ghost.
My credit card company is going to cancel the transaction and block dash masters. We'll see if Alan calls me back then. Stay away from this vendor, just an awful experience, I gave him the benefit of the doubt after seeing his BBB page, but was wrong.
My rant is over...
