Hello,

I was wondering how I can locate the owner, or have the owner of the vehicle contace me that lives in Canada??
I have the original paperwork, and infromation for the vehicle..
I have called the Canadian DMV and they do not give out names of vehicle owners..
Can anyone help to get the paper work to the car??

Thank you in advance.

They stopped giving out that info a few years ago due to a privacy act.
Do you know someone in the police service or gov't office, you could call in a favor?
Good luck.

I do here in the Us, but not Canada..
does anyone here that in that lives in Canda have any pull??

Thank you

Start with what type of car is it, colour, motor, tranny. Maybe someone knows someone with a car like that. Maybe the vin..

are you trying to give paperwork you have to somebody that owns the car it is linked to?

Car Clubs may be the only way or run continuous craigslist ads? Hell you can walk into our country undetected....TRY going to Canada with that paperwork to help some guy out. LOL ...THEY HAVE GUNS. of course I must remind you they dont BELIEVE in guns...but their peoples got them.

If you own the vehicle and it is in YOUR name (titled and registered), it should not be a huge problem either in the US or Canada to get ownership history. Just saying "Canadian DMV" doesn't mean anything - cars are registered in provinces, and you need to contact provincial DMV sources for that information. If the vehicle was never in your name, you are going to pursue a nearly impossible goal. Since 9/11, both State and Provincial laws have tightened a great deal on releasing registration and title info to a non-owner. Now, if you were law enforcement, a lawyer, insurance company, auto dealer, or someone else with a LEGITIMATE interest in the vehicle (accident investigation, ownership claims, and the like), then you would have a much easier time. BUT, even those agencies MUST have a "need to know" that information; they can't simply ask and get it, either.

Yes I did own the car, and I have the original owners manual, insurance papers, and the name of the original owner who bought it off the lot, as well as some other paperwork.. ANY assistance would be much helpful..

Thank you

Good luck, it's not going to happen even if you have the VIN number and the Prime Minister in your pocket due to stringent privacy laws and the past history of hoaxsters and swindlers. The only chance you might stand is to post on several forums (providing the owner frequents forums) or report the car stolen at which point the VIN and registered owner are searched. Hell of a way to meet though as he's going to be really pissed at you reporting his car stolen. If, at his end, it is discovered that he truely is the owner you may be contacted by unwanted authorities. I don't understand why it would be so important to get him papers he has not requested or advertised for. Let it ride.

The current owner may not have requested because he doesn't know its out there though. I would be thrilled to have someone provide that to me on my car.

Maybe the guy gave up on looking for it? If I had an all original car I woould be delighted that you're so willing to get it to him. Some people are pesky about these types of situations, so it's up to you. Not sure how far you're willing to go. Glad to know there are people out there like you! Unfortunate that he's in Canada.

Best of Luck!

You could place an add in Old Autos Magazine http://oldautos.ca/ The magazine has a very far reach with Canadian Automobile enthusiasts.

If you know the province where the new owner is located perhaps a member from this site could help. for example if the guy lives in Ontario, I may have seen the car or could be on the lookout for it. I also have contact with police and insurance friends and may be able to ask a favour of them. I have a US car that I bought three years ago in Kentucky - it would be neat if the info you have is about my car - I would love to have it.

PM me if you would like to take me up on this and want to keep it confidential.

^^This, perhaps someone may live in the general area and know of the car. Canada is a small place you know?! Just kidding, but the Mopar / car community is small. You'd be surprised who has a friend who knows the cousin of the sister's boyfriend's son's best friend's car!

There's the problem - you do not currently own the car. Unless you ask about in forums like this, you'll get nowhere with the various DMVs out there. Only a current, registered owner can obtain ownership history in nearly every State and Province. Good luck, that is all I can offer from this point.

I think if you go in person, you can buy the vehicle information package on the car for $16 bucks
You need the VIN for sure though

Im sorry,

The car is a 1971 Bahama Yellow (butterscotch) Roadrunner.. 383 4-speed, black interior, buckets, counsole, non vinal top, with strobe stripe, non A/C..

Hope this helps, and thank you for your help as well
