Found a Stewart Warner -60-0-+60 ammeter at a garage sale. Checked ePay - it is a vintage Green Line piece used in Yenko Camaros and Shelby Mustangs and are going for over $100. I got it for a buck. Woohoo! Any way to test it without blowing it up? Thanks!

Great find, here is an article on how o test it with a multi meter http://www.ehow.com/how_7943382_test-amp-gauge.html

If you don't have a meter than you can use the cars batt just do the same procedure just with the car batt instead of the multimeter and watch the gauge move if it does not than its bad. Good luck. Remember amp meter measures current flow through the positive only not pos and neg. the gauge may have a ground side but do not connect a neg to the terminals. its for chassis ground only.

Thanks. It has three terminals, two insulated and one not. I take it I connect to the terminal by the positive side and to the uninsulated post in the middle, which is the ground?
