What do you need to do to get the door to close after replacing the weather striping around it,I have to slam it to get it to close. It has been on the door about three months and still will not let the door close unless I slam it. need help. This is on my 77 Camaro. not the charger.

If it's that bad the rubber is too hard. Not all weather strip material is the same.

If the weatherstripping rubber is new, you can carefully apply "petroleum jelly" (known as Vaseline) onto the rubber. Leave the door shut for a few days, then wipe it off. The Vaseline actually softens the rubber enough to make it pliable enough to allow door to close. Trust me, I had to do that to my car, and the guy who told me does it all the time on new door rubber.

Did you adjust the striker/latch to compensate for the new weather strip? Does the door close flush with the body when you slam it shut?

Yes I adjusted striker for the new weather striping and when I close it I have to slam it and no the door doesn't line up as stated in my second post.
