Car is a 1970 charger 500. Sounds silly I know. My gauge cluster wasnt connected into the car. I got the headlights to turn on properly. Turn signal lights sort of work. How do you turn the light gauges on? Is it the dome light switch and do you have to have it all the way up for the lights to come on? Also, on the gauges I did notice on the harness on the left had a grey and black wire does that wire hook up to the rpm gauge or is it a ground for the speedometer or just a ground in generall and where does it go? I will be posting pictures this weekend if I havent figured it out.

Yes, sort of. ALL the way up will turn on the dome light as well as light up the gauges. So one click short of that.

I reckon 72RoadrunnerGTX will be along shortly to help you with the rest of it. :headbang:

TAKE IT OUT TO DINNER,,,,, this usually turns things on for a short time. spend lots of money on it....lol

had to,,,,sorry

lol I didnt mean it like that. My gauge lights arent working and just wanted to leave the switch on while I was trying to fix them. Didnt mean for this post to be a joke. The car isnt in top condition by no means and some of the gauges arent working and none of the lights are coming on inside of the gauges.

You need a wiring diagram, test light and a glass of bourbon. Make that 2 glasses.

I couldn't get my gauge lights to turn on for love or money. I ended up snipping off the end of the main wire supplying power to them and splicing them into the dimmer power wire for the old AM radio. Now they work great. :)

there may be a diag on mymopar. Cars are pretty easy they only take 1 wire.
Locate the source point and read to a good ground. Odds are that there is no source voltage or the frame that they mount in does not have a good grpond refrence. You can check the ground by reading ohms from where the metal partof the scoket plugs in to to chassis ground , There should be little or no resistance. If resistance is high connect a ground. Source probably comes out ot fuse box to switch then to lights. In that case you could use a jumper from switch out to a hot source. This could even be done with a lantern battery by jumping ground to bat neg and pos to switch out, if you do that make sure it is not being fed by another source like the car batt or system. Electrical systems get REALLY pissy when they have two power sources.
I'll look into it more for ya.
