How fast with a 6 pack?

The '70 versions were also very impressive. Knew several of the '70 Runner versions. Again, for what it's worth, for some reason my '70 6 BBL carbs worked the best. I had OEM '69 end carbs, I had '71 complete. The 70's worked the best & simpler to get to work, Unfortunately most "street" folks didn't figure out how to make the 6 BBL work. I benefited by getting real deals on the 6 BBL set ups. A single 4 BBL is easier, but with with the effort, the 6 BBL is still great.
I'm sure there are many reasons for this, less weight, higher ratio ring and pinion gearset, SureGrip vs open diff, 3 pedals vs 2, cam....
My 70 Roadrunner ran high 13s first time out on the 1/4 mile with serious traction problems. Much faster than my 71 Charger R/T 440 4bbl.
...and when the outboard carbs open...OMG!

My 6 BBL's were all used on my drag car. Getting the end carbs to work well was the main thing. The end carb idle mixture screw adjustment was the biggest improvement. Then the vacuum springs. On my '70 carbs, the jetting was nearly stock, a little up in the squirter. I'm pretty sure that setup would have been GREAT on the street. BTW I had a really big solid cam. Idle was a bit high at 1000 RPM, but I had a good 10" converter. The 6 BBL was only .15 & 1.5 MPH slower than my 2x4 tunnel ram on my 440 TRW, ported 906 motor.
