2021 Corvette 2LT (I traded the Corvette for a Hellcat and then traded the Hellcat for a Redeye)

4) 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4x4 6.7 Cummins with exhaust brake. Still have this truck with 85k on the clock. Probably my last new vehicle.

Used vehicles
1) 1964 Dodge Dart Convertible GT 225/6 My first car, bought in 1972 for $200
2) 1973 Road Runner GTX. Bought in 1976 it had 52k on the clock. Paid $2,100 and still have it.
3) 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT8 bought it for $24k in 2008 it only had 5K on the clock. Couldn’t pass it up and still have it today and is our daily driver.
4) 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster SRT6 bought it for $25K in 2009 for my wife and it only had 3K on the clock. Another car I could not pass up and still have it to day. My wife loves that little car.
5) 1933 Plymouth 5 window Coupe 318 with 727 auto. Bought in 2009 just because, and I wanted a project car for retirement.

Probably a half dozen or so; the last was the 2012 Charger R/T which was bought online!
We did the usual running around the countryside, test-driving similar models, but nobody had
one the way we wanted it.
Oh, all the dealers reminded us they could get one, but for that matter so could I - so I did.
Dealer in NC (that's the state to buy new cars in, at least in this part of the country) had exactly
what I wanted and we did the whole deal sight-unseen (other than pics exchanged of both the new
car AND our trade-in '06 Charger R/T!).
Delivery dude showed up here on the ridge (on a Saturday!) and we did the deal in my garage.
Unreal.

New Jeep Wrangler in 2008. Love it, my daily driver still.
New Subaru Legacy Outback in 2019. Love it, wife’s daily driver.

I tend to keep my vehicles for a very long time. Had good luck and not many issues.
Sadly some drunk piece of crap looser smashed my parked F250 and totaled it last month. It was a reliable truck and probably was going to out live me.
Now I have to buy a new truck

For most of my life, I didn't see the value of buying new. I've been in construction since 1986 but didn't buy a truck until 1990 and it was used.
My second truck was bought with 94,000 miles on it in 1993. 1984 Chevy.

By 2000, I bought my first Charger. I was working about 100 miles from home and the Chevy, with approx 400,000 miles, was at the point where I was having to Band Aid the dang thing twice a week to keep it running. I wanted to work on the Charger, not the truck. Another year and a half rolled by and I decided that I had enough.....so I looked at the ads in the newspaper....
Swift Dodge in Sacramento had 10 trucks advertised for $15,995. 2002 Ram 1500 with the 4.7, power nothing, rubber floor mat and A/C! It was not fast but it was a great truck and didn't leak!

By 2006 I had a job closer to home. The 2002 truck had 163,000 miles so I sold it private party and bought THIS:

Seven Cummins Rams, 1996 thru 2012. (I still own the 2012) two dodge caravans,(2001 and 2003) One 2002 Neon SXT, one chrysler town and country,(2006)
three Jeep Patriots, 2007,2013, 2017.(we still own the 2017) one Challenger R/T 2010, and my present 2016 Ch
allenger SXT.

all have performed very well,,,,,and continue to do so. I really miss that 2002 Neon SXT. It was a blast in the mountains as a five speed, and got 40 Miles to the gallon crossing the southwest!
But I got three speeding tickets in six months with that Challenger, So I traded it in for the 2013 Patriot in order to get my wife a safe car.
I continuously upgraded the Cummins, as resale was great. I use the 2012 3500 Ram mostly in the classic car business I operate. But no more new Rams, the prices are thru the roof.And the 2012 does not use DEF. and no computer to track me,,,,like the 2021.
The Ram is up to 60,000 miles, and the challenger is driven only from April thru October, so it is barely touching 19,400.

Only ONE new car for me. A 2000 Honda Civic DX coupe. Was the least expensive model on the dealer’s lot. The sticker price was $13K+. I bought new because I was in bind and needed a dependable car quickly, but could only find rough high mileage junk to buy used at the time. Kept it for almost 15 years.

Sold it, in 2015, to the fleet manager of the APS electric company, in Phoenix. That was shortly after I bought my current daily driver, a 2001 Accord V6 coupe, that now has 132K miles on it. It had 74K when I bought it.

Over the past three years, on and off, I’ve test driven and looked at many different 2015 to 2020 Challengers (Shakers, Scat Packs, T/A 392s, new and used), but haven’t been motivated enough to buy any of them. I feel none of them would be as reliable and last as long as either of my two Hondas have.

I’m not keen on all the excessive amount of computerized crap on ANY of the new cars by any manufacturer. The newest model year car I’ve ever owned is the one I’m driving now 2001.
