how much shorter is the power steering column shaft to the manual steering

hi buddys. i change the steering of my 65 dodge coronet from manual to power steering. now my column shaft is to long

maybe knew some body how much shorter is the column shaft to the manual steering shaft

I went from power to manual on my late B. Set the two gear boxes side by side and measure them. The length difference is what you gotta cut off. In my case, I had to extend the shaft with a sleeve - welded to the column shaft - pic. Header clearance could be an issue also.

Also remember that the spline coupler is a different size. I believe that the manual is larger.(I may have that backwards)

As you can see its about two to three inches longer then the manual shaft as thats the lenth of the gray adapter you can see coming off my steering box and connecting to the black steering shaft. Ron

I was considering changing my manual steering over to power steering in my 64, but it may be more work than I care to do. I just wanted my wife to be able to park the car but then I really don't want her to drive it till I am dead.

No adapter needed if you have the correct column for the type of gear box being used. Just need the correct coupler.
