We were invited to a family friend's place for Thanksgiving. We spent Thursday morning racing go karts a the IMI motorsports complex, north of Denver.

The beginner karts go 60 mph, the intermediate karts go 80 and the shifter karts go 100 mph. So much fun but $40 to $60 for 10 laps. You have to wear a fire suit, a neck collar, helmets and gloves. Pulled more G's than I ever had on 4 wheels. My arms ache today from the steering wheel.
Then to the McMansion in Boulder, Colorado. There is a "Building Ban" in Boulder. They had to knock down an existing home with fantastic views to have room to build a new home. This place is so big they have "Home Concerts" with well known musicians, usually a solo guitar player and singer. Thanksgiving dinner for about 20 with real silver, silverware, linen napkins specially made for the occasion. All the fixin's. After dinner most went home but my son and I accompanied their family to their ranch and "off the grid" cabin in the Rocky Mountains. It was about 40 acres on the edge of a national forest. Spent the night and hiked on Friday. Came home Friday night.
VERY down to earth people even though they are the typical Boulder, Colorado, liberal tree-huggers. They have a Chevy Volt, a Lexus SUV and a Honda Ridgeline, for the ranch. It was never ostentatious but you know when you're around serious money.
