This is the stamp on the bottom of my motor. I know it's not the original block as it's a late 66 casting. I understand the number gives the engine assembly date but I'm not sure how to decipher it. Anyone know??

MN is the plant
426 is the CID
2336 is the date of assembly based on a 10,000 day calendar. That number equals December 20, 1967 indicating a 1968 model year car.

0012 = 12th engine assembled that day.

You should also find this date stamped on the pad at the front of the block. It should look like 12 20.

Is there a VIN stamped on the block?

Build date should be on the pad in front of intake. No numbers there, maybe a warranty block.

Similar info is on the pad up top as well

BH is 1966
Mine is Jan 22nd
SBD of the car is April 5th

I know for a fact its not the born with block, But no one can ever say it isnt either

Haven't looked for a VIN as I was thinking it was a 67 engine based on the cast date. I'll try to look back there sometime. The top pad looks pretty clean (blank) from peaking under the coil - haven't removed to coil to get a closer look.

thanks for the info.
