My road runner sits out on our carport and I keep it covered with a 5 layer cover. My wife's cat's will work their way underneath the cover and leave their paw prints all over the car. I would prefer that they not even go near the car. I have read lots of idea's on how to keep the cat's off the car and some I've tried and some are ridiculous. I have tried vinegar in a spray bottle and re-applied often with no success. Do any of you have a logical answer for this other than building a shop to store the car or killing the cat's? Is there a chemical that will work? Thanks!

The only good way is to keep the cats inside. Besides, outside cats wreak havoc on birds and other small animals and after all, your cats are pets.....not wild animals looking for food to survive.

No thanks. I feed the cats.

You could put something else out there for them that they find more attractive...like a cat condo type thing.

?? I fed ours too but they never went outside. Actually, they didn't want to go out! I've dealt with plenty of my neighbor's cats getting on my cars including them getting inside my shop. So far, I haven't found anything that worked very good except for using a live tender trap and taking them to the pound and then the neighbor had to go get them and pay for updated shots and a fine. After a couple of warnings to them, I started catching them and then and only then, they decided to keep them in their yard. How they did that....I have no idea. Where else are 'your' cats going besides on your car??

The cats go wherever they want. Their only enemies are coyotes. I live in a rural/remote area.

Hose the cat down with a Super Soaker ...Water is "kryptonite for cats. After a few relays of water, the cat should know to stay away..........

There's nothing cats hate more than getting wet. Maybe you can figure out a way to spray them with a garden hose or sprinkler every time they get on the car. I've heard of people keeping wet towels on the car too. When the cat jumps on the car they get a good surprise. Water doesn't hurt them and once they associate getting wet with jumping on the car they'll stop doing it.

I had some friends who had a cat that would go crazy and run around the house and jump in the bathtub every time somebody came over to visit. So, one day he filled the tub and waited for company to come. He said it was the funniest thing he ever saw and that was the last time the cat did it.

On a slightly different note, I used to have to park under a tree limb and the birds would crap on my car all the time. I read somewhere that keeping rubber snakes on your car kept birds away. I went to Walmart in the toy department and got some and tried it. Sure enough, it worked. Maybe a giant rubber dog would keep cats away, ha!

ANTI FREEZE......'nuff said....they love the stuff. i have a cat...Maxx Wedge Chrysler (thats his name )...but he stays inside and is not a menace to the neighborhood. i DO NOT condone killing cats...but if they're FU&#*ING up your car....it needs to be addressed! ...orrrrrrrr....call the local chinese restaurant.....CHINESEEEEE FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD !

Had a cat that used to do that to my car all the time. I just kept scaring the **** out of him every time I saw him on my car. He doesn't do it anymore.

i have 4 use to be 5 barn cats that the ole lady half spoiled by feeding a bit at the back door. raised on a farm i knew this was not good. every time a car was left out 1 cat in particular seemed to do this. that one is gone now and i used the hose trick every time they got within 10 ft of a car. the rest don't bother cars anymore. took a bit but it worked. she still thinks a Fisher had the other one for lunch, nuff said. all cats are fed at the barn now, period. i kept the hose at the back porch handy with the pressure on. good luck

Amen :iamwithstupid: ... And it's not inhumane, it's safe to spray them or also it won't hurt the car or the cats, to spray it with water... I use to spray the local cats, that got on my F-350 Dually that sits out in the carport constantly, I would every once in a while, with a spray bottle, like a Windex Bottle, with a streamer setting, with just water, they got the hint pretty quick, they will get sprayed, they don't sit on it any more, still come over for friendly pets too...

Thanks to all of you with sensible solutions!!!! I have since bought a dog and cat repellent at Wal-Mart and keep it fresh around the perimeter of the car and it seems to be doing a great job for me so far.
