It has been many years & I don’t have an assistant. I seem to have a “no spark” situation and In trying to fix it.
1. Emergency brake on
2. Car in neutral
3. Key on
4. Short large “battery +” and “starter main wire” with a screwdriver (or push button)
5. What about the yellow wire coming from the clutch switch (1970 - neutral safety switch thing) - What do I do about the yellow wire?
THANKS EVERYONE!

Your screwdriver or bypass starter button takes the place of the yellow wire 12 volts to the starter relay coil so no need to do anything there.

Have a GREAT DAY!

Make sure (twice),the trans is in neutral before trying!!

Do you have voltage at the coil ?
I haven’t tested it yet. Car was running, a week ago. This weekend, car “tried” to start, but just sputtered. Plugs were oily (bad valve seals), so I put in fresh plugs. Now, acts like no spark at all (ether sprayed into carb). I think I must have knocked a wire loose or something (?). I plan to crank and verify no spark with a spare plug. Then check for 12v (no ballast resistor) at + of coil with key on. Then try to ground distributor pigtail with key on & look for spark coming out of coil

Problem Solved! I somehow pulled loose a 2-wire connector to my MSD multi-step retard. Fired right up. Thanks guys!
