How to remove hood webbing?

Hi, the hood on my 66 Satellite is a bit dodgy in places, pinholes in thin metal etc. I spent the afternoon cutting a few inspection holes here and there and removed a huge mouse nest as well as half a ton of nut shells. I'm thinking the only way to fix properly is to separate the webbing and it only seems to be attached by mastic blobs. Is that all that holds it on? No spot welds or anything? If so do I just cut the mastic and gently prise the two apart? Thanks

Should be spotwelded along the outside edges.

Use a thin blade putty knife to seperate panels after drilling welds.

Make sure you mark it before you separate the two or you will never get the hood and fenders to line back up
