How to replace 727 shifter shaft linkage seal ?

I'm on the way to finish the restoration of my '72 Roadrunner.
After we replaced different seals and connections, unfortunately the transmission is always leaking. This time it is definitely the shifter shaft linkage seal. And it is leaking a lot.
All I found until now is that the transmission has to be taken out to replace the seal ?
Does anyone replaced this seal without taking the 727 transmission out of the car ? Is it possible to do ?
Replacing the seal I could do myself even if it takes time … Taking the transmission out I can’t do myself …
Do I need special tools ?

You can buy that tool on ebay.....seems pricey for just a seal replacement but you do not have to drop the pan and valve body....which is worth the money in my books

Get the seal installer/remover as stated above or drop the pan and valve body. trans doesn't need to come out either way. Takes less than an hour with the tool.

There is also a seal at the throttle pressure shaft. Remove the E clip that retains the throttle pressure shaft once the vavle body is removed. Then remove the flat washer, seal is now acessable. Make sure that the valve body rooster comb doesn't slip down after removing the E clip or you'll shoot the detent ball and spring across the room. I've changed many of the case seals with a sew diver to pop it out from the bottom and a socket to tap it in. Make sure to lube the seal / valve body during install. Sometimes the lip of the seal will flip up during valve body install causing a leak.

I have ordered the two seals but first I think I will try the linkage seal and then we will see. Probably I really don't need to take the pan off ...
