How to screw in speedometer cable-68 Coronet 500

I saw the posts on replacing the speedometer cable....how it screws in and doesn't have a retaining clip.Can someone carefully describe how it screws in pls? The cable has a plastic clip on the plug that inserts into the female connector on the back of the dash. I can't figure out how to secure the plug into the connector. The clip seems to rest on the outside of the connector but doesn't fasten. It rides out once the car starts rolling...arghh!

it pushes in, no screw in at the speedometer.

pushes in and the clip secures it...last screw in was 67 I believe............like mine

Thanks guys, I just didnt push it in far enough for the clip to engage.
I have Neanderthal hands...its fixed and working fine...Thanks again!!
