I have spent 30 years in the Chemical Industry, supplying Products for Food Processing sanitation, Waste Water Treatment and Ultra Filtration. Employed by a Multi national Company, Profits are lower since the Obama Recession. Many customers closed or down sized and the customer base is smaller. My experience and reputation keeps me going. I play with cars and read Cranium for sanity.

I think Mark aka "ski" {no way! Mark is a Polish name?? lol} means that our current POTUS is to blame for the downturn in biz. {I will be corrected post-haste by "super-bee_ski" if this is incorrect}

but, in IMHO it was a little swipe at our current Marxist-in-Chief...at least that how I would have said it anyways

I guess I'll offer a bit from the Canadian Perspective... I work in Hospital and Healthcare construction & infrastructure as a third party consultant and inspector for a specific aspect of the construction (Medical Gas Pipelines) In my 7 years doing this 2013 was by far the slowest and my business was down about 35% from last year... the 2 partners I sub too also couldn't remember the last time we had these numbers but gather it had to be 15-20 years ago.... It's government money so it definitely comes in a cycle but with a huge demand for more healthcare and a vast aging population I didn't anticipate seeing the stoppage of projects already underway! I have a huge territory covering all the province of Ontario (about the same size of the US states Texas & Montana, combined) and being the only accredited company of it's type.

I think 2014 looks a bit more promising but it sucked being slow in 2013 especially since my wife and I split this year (actually one year to the day today) and I bought her out of a much larger home than I need on my own.

Looking forward to a hopefully prosperous 2013 and wishing all of you the same!

P.S. if you want a very unusual and unique story I'll share with you guys sometime how I got into this industry

I do consulting (mechanical) engineering for local industry, namely steel mills and refinery work. Our business has slowed some recently with a sharp drop in capitol spending from the local mills and BP refinery. I really don't see much of an uptick in our local industrial scene and we are looking to expand out to other cities to pull more work in.

On another note, anybody in Wisconsin or UP of Mi need a good engineer?!

BTW, My Dad served in the Army Air Corps in the Big One. (as Archie Bunker would have called it).
He was stationed on Saipan and was a radio tech for the B-29's. I have a photo album of shots from the island where he went into the Jap caves and found some crispy enemy remains.

P.S. Thanks for the lift also. You guys "dropped me off" a few times. Made a few jumps from a couple of 130s and from one 141. Nothing liked getting sucked out of the door of a 141 at 130 knots. LOL
