hurst promatic 2 shifter

I was cleaning out the trunk of my car today (crammed full of extra parts) and found a hurst promatic 2 shifter.
Can I use this on a stock tranny or do I need to have a manual valve body?

It will work on a stock tranny, is it complete with the cable and brackets?

Yes i have all the hardware for it but just looking around the net I saw alot of manual valve body talk.
Nothing was very clear.
