I just installed a hurst quarter stick and it feels really loose when shifting. Can anyone please sort of walk me through hot to adjust it for tighter shifts? The directions dont really specify. Thanks.

I just visited the Hurst site:
There seems to be plenty of help there concerning the set-up and adjustment procedure.
It has a "Threaded-Rod" for cable slack and tension, correct?

Yes correct

Do you have the correct shifter for your trans. I ran into problems once when I installed a mega shifter on a powerglide. It wasn't cycling through the gears
correctly. I think I had to jack with the trans tab to get the right geometry

If you installed the correct cable bracket and shift lever on the trans, I start with the shifter in neutral, ENGINE OFF! Trans in neutral, and have a helper up top shift to drive and while I'm under the car, I make sure that the trans is shifted to that gear. Then do reverse. then 2nd, first and park. I found it was a little tight going into park and 1st.

i think i got it, finally got it on the lift right at the end of the day and messed around with all the lower stuff. works good now, god working under a lift is so much easier then working under a jack.
