I can't stop laughing at the idiots....

Some of us learned from our dads',
that buying a new car required some
forethought and careful considerations
as to what that car's ultimate use
would be. Be it a station wagon, or
a pickup, as an example.
I'm thinking most of these 'idiots' have
buyers remorse, and are trying to
cover up for a poor decision by
blaming the car.

Oh, and there was this the other day. A bus hit a Mercedes-Benz SUV from behind, pushing the Mercedes forward, bumping the rear of a Tesla. There was damage to the bus. Not a scratch on the Merc, Tesla written off.

Looks like the Tesla has pissed
its' self.....
What's that puddle under the car?

Another unreported incident in Wellington just over a week ago....a rechargeable battery scooter caught fire and burnt the garage....substantial fire.

And only last week another house fire in Auckland only about 1 mile from me (approx 1,950 washing machines) caused by another rechargeable scooter.

Probably some Chinese plastic that fell off the Tesla.
Maybe, but when it come to cars, Tesla automobiles have the highest percentage of American content in them.

That said, I have to laugh when people compare a Tesla with other luxury cars. Tesla isn't luxury, just expensive.

I know someone with a Tesla who was involved in a minor fender bender & needed the front fascia panel & a couple other related parts replaced and it took months to get. Fortunately, the car was still drivable until the parts came in. All work had to be done at the dealer too. He also had to have the windshield replaced recently and regular glass companies wouldn't touch it. That also had to be done at the dealer.

On a recent trip down country, we parked quite close to the Tesla EV charging station in the mall carpark. I noticed all the chargers were down for maintenance. The service guy seemed to have spent a lot of time on his phone sitting in his van. I don't think he moved from the time we got there until we left.....at least 90 minutes.

He was probably on the phone with his
girlfriend. All the service/maintenance
guys are out fishing.
Everyone knows green electricity just
magically appears. The thought
process ends at the outlet.

With the increase in car jackings here in the States, I'd be concerned with sitting at one of those charging stations for an extended period of time. It makes for an easy target.

Someone holds you up, where are you going to go?

Waiting for his battery to charge in his cordless drill!

A guy I know works at Cami, here in Ingersoll, Ontario. This is an offshoot of GM , and they built EV delivery trucks there. He said they had an episode there last Wednesday. A new truck was on a hoist, getting its battery pack changed. He says this pack is the size of a pool table; 8' x 4' x 2' thick. Something went wrong, and the battery pack started to smoke. The workers quickly got the truck down off the hoist, and tried pushing it out the shop door, but it went Boom, and started a thermal runaway. Everyone was evacuated from the plant. I don't know what the final outcome was.
I mentioned to my friend that I had not seen that on the news. His answer; "You won't!" .
My son is a fire Captain with Mississauga, Ontario on the outskirts of Toronto. He says the off-gassing is hydrogen fluoride, and is VERY bad $hit. He said this compound can be absorbed through the skin, and can cause bad symptoms in a couple of weeks, as opposed to 20 years or so, like some fireground related contaminates. He says this generation of firefighters is the guinea pigs of how to deal with these battery fires. My son went on to say that a crew responded to an electric bike fire in nearby Guelph, and was exposed to this off-gassing. The crew is still off work. There is so much about these EV's that no-one knows about or thought about.

I read the title and thought it was about the usual suspects but I am in the general forum... Electric stuff has it's place and it should have stayed with tools.

and that is kind of the sentiment I am trying to get across....without the thread turning political.
