After years of anticipation I finally put the car (1969 Charger) in gear and drove it across the road to my house (about an 1/8-1/4 mile). I can't stand it now "I want to drive it NOW", no windows, no plates, no lights and no paint are holding me back "where is the Overhaulin crew when you need them"? I went to the garage today to get the tractor but caught a glimpse of it and it was over, I had to drive it again. I now think I'll have to step up my game and get this thing done before the snow flies so I can at least get it opened up and see what it's got. I should have never drove it "now I'm getting really impatient".

patients grasshopper...LOL... I feel your pain, I can't wait to get back outside

I bet, sometimes disasters really opens our eyes to just how lucky we are and how much we take for granted. Is it getting any better yet?

its a disease my friend a disease... there is no cure...

Put it on jackstands. then when you have time to drive it you cant. Spend that time finishing it.I speak from experience.

That's the truth, I've always had some sort of escape whether it be motorcross or hot rods but am coming to the end of a long dry spell of having no toys. Can't wait to enjoy driving instead of just driving to get somewhere.

Problem is, I don't have time during the weak to get much done but can sneak in a joy ride. No worries, I'm going to buckle down it's just a matter of money now.

Ain't that the truth. Must be pretty neat not to have to sit in the seat and make the motor/shifting noises with your mouth anymore LOL.

Yes it is, the best part is I can walk away from it without worrying about anything "runs cool and smooth". Now if I can just figure out the inconsistent starting issue I'll be content but until then there's one thing left. Next is paint, hoping for some low humidity and a couple good days of work after that it's "go time".

I saw something even worse one day, I saw a car going threw town with the hood open and someone sitting under the hood operating the throttle manually "that's desperate".

I thought that too but decided I had to do at least one bolt everyday. Sometimes I only did one but most times I would do a few and things slowly came together.

Who needs glass, paint, lights etc. to drive 1/8 mile...HA HA
Get to work and you will get there.
Good luck finding the coin.
Wish I could help, but I have my own with it's hand out.

oh i had a gastank, the paint bucket was my seat!
Gotcha, that sounds much better.

Evidently "not me", have a long weekend this week so we'll see if it adds up to more getting done.

Words of wisdom. I do the same thing, a little something everyday, even if it's just removing a bolt.

I guess I'm in the same boat, but mine is on jackstands as I'm rebuilding the front suspension, upgrading to disc brakes and the motor and trans are out (already been rebuilt). But it's a fight not to rush things and do it half-assed. I'm not bolting on any rusty parts so everything is getting stripped and painted or new/rebuilt items are being put on. Even taking the time to primer/paint all the suspension pieces that come in bare metal.

You still hunkered down brother? Any relief in sight?

it's still smoky, but not as bad, I might even go out to the garage today, latter it gets, the less smoke there is...

Sounds like your doing it right !!
