I did not know that

Yep.

We have a new one in a residential area right up against a railroad crossing.

If there's a train, all traffic for miles comes to a halt.

Before the circle, you could go around the stopped traffic waiting for the train, and take an alternate route.

Now, because the one lane, one way circle is stopped, all traffic on all feeder roads is also stopped.

Extremely frustrating.
Well, maybe look at the bright side, pun intended in Florida, the trains are passing at a faster speed?

This particular crossing leads to an intermodal facility.
Trains are frequently queued to get in and can sit blocking the crossing for quite some time.
IIRC FL has a "45 minute" rule, but even 20-30 min is quite frustrating if you are trying to get to work, or to get home.
...or don't even need to go across the tracks, but can't get by because the circle is stopped.

Here in central florida some circles were put in as an after thought. And are way too small so the turn is too tight so they cut the corner and large trucks wipe out the sign in the middle and many people don't use their turn signals. Other than that, I like em! When im driving my small car.
LOL !

We have roundabouts everywhere now and I'm telling you the difference is incredible. I go through atleast 3 to 4 a day and I love them. They absolutely keep traffic flowing.

St. Thomas, Ontario has fallen in love with traffic circles. We call them round-abouts, here. They have created a 1,600 acre industrial park to the northeast edge of the city, to house a new VW EV battery plant, and feeder industries. Roads have been rebuilt and expanded to service this facility, with round-abouts everywhere. Some of the newer housing subdivisions are built with round-abouts instead of normal intersections with stop signs.

Hate roundabouts, hate those stupid 'diamond ' things even worse. Those things are beyond idiotic...
Pulling up to an intersection with no cars and getting stuck at a red light for about 5 minutes blows! At our roundabouts you just run in and get flipped out without stopping. The diamonds work great if you learn to adapt. They just finished three by my house and traffic is half what it was.

seldom at a red light for that long. and no one knows what to do with traffic circles. LOTS of minor accidents with them, at least the few we have 'round here. And up by your house is where I ran into the first of those other things, on my way to Prasino's ... [sp?] hated it. They've put one in by me now and still hate it; makes no sense atall. Of course, Im just an ol hillbilly...

Come up to Michigan and I’ll show you our 4 lane roundabout and the craziness it takes to get through it. Before the roundabout was placed there, it was the busiest and deadliest intersection in Michigan. Still a hair raising experience, but it makes those cloverleaf roundys look tame! I love it!

They opened the first diverging diamond overpass in the county 2 exits north of me last year on a road with very heavy traffic that was usually backed up for about a half mile constantly. Now the traffic moves pretty good, but you still have the a$$holes that block the intersection and screws everything up. They sped the traffic lights up so the traffic doesn't set long. There's quite a few of them around ATL.

I will navigate 10 traffic circles over sitting at 1 red light. But the diverging diamond intersection are plane stupid.

There's no doubt that they take practice in order for them to become second nature. I'm still getting use to the diamonds, but they really fixed the biggest part of our traffic issues.

Never tell me you're just an ol hillbilly, you're not!! I am, an ol hillbilly from the ozarks. I've dealt with a ton of different people with a variety of different levels of thought, but I don't do pompous twits. Atleast those that are worse than me!!! LOL.......... Our first real home had an outhouse......

They're putting them everywhere here in GA too. Check this new exit they are putting on I75 south of ATL that is for trucks to get to the warehouses on both sides of the interstate. A traffic circle on either end of the overpass that the ramps run right in to.

That is novice level.
In Green Bay when you exit off the highway onto Mason Street there are 5 in a row. Not kidding. They just put a circle on every intersection for the first 5 blocks. There might be 100 feet in between them.
I super enjoy driving my 8500LB 8.1 big block crew cab in the speed up/slow down traffic that causes. NOT.

I like them because it is better than sitting at a red light or having people blow the light and cutting you off. They work well except the ones (in Massachusetts) that have 2 lanes, and those get very competitive.
They have some with 4 lanes in WI now, and they expect you to change lanes in the middle of the circle depending on what the intersection is. Also, on some once you exit the circle the lane ends within 50 feet and you have to merge.
What's that? Oh yes, now that you ask there are dozens of accidents on them every month. Turns out locals that drive them multiple times daily go through them at 40mph and the out of towners try to do stuff like, yield, and allow right of way, and go through them at posted speeds of 20mph. Damn out of towners, causing all those accidents with the locals, learn to drive n00b!
But, hey, no one dies. Progress.

They have one of those in Janesville Wi. Craziest road interchange I've ever seen.

@Detective D @ESOXER
Did they put it on 151? 90/94? I haven't been to Madison in years. No reason to go. I probably wouldn't recognize Janesville or Sun Prairie anymore. Looking on google maps, Milwaukee suburbs look like they are within a skip and a jump from holding hands with Madisons surrounding suburbs.
I will just stay up here with the cows and trees.
