I have to agree with DARC1722, Just because you buy a restore project does not mean it will be on the road real soon. I bought my first Road Runner back in 1985 for $400 bucks. It was just a rolling chasis, no motor or trans. Ten years later and around $10,000 invested I could drive it, however, with that much invested I still needed to spend more before it was totally completed. Think hard about your decision before you buy. Make sure you have enough storage, money, and time to do a proper restore.

They're scarce, but not rare, and many have either been turned into clones or parted out to cobble together someone else's real Super Bee's or Coronet R/T's.

Keep in mind that in today's market, if you go after the Coronet five hunert, and pump a ton of $$$ into it, you'll be upside down, and while we may not want to sell our toys, crap happens, and you're taking a huge hit if you have to sell it. If you're looking at the Coronet 500 just to get a car, I'd personally wait for "the one" that will wind your watch for years to come. Think carefully as the previous poster stated, it will get expensive, and time consuming.

Im just wondering if a 70 coronet 500 is rare?

i thin all us guys that that been there and done that should write a book on this subject, after foolin with these old Mopes since the 80's i;ve made and seen all the mistakes!! like alot of you guys have, so lets write a book on all the things to consider and all the good times and bad times you find!!!!!
some of my advice: go drive one of these beasts if of the younger generation!! they arn't your New Lexis!! buy it cause you love it and don't figure on gettin your money out of it! now or then! hope your wife approves, divorces are expensive! if not marriedm your girlfriend arn't likely gonna like it espcially after the weddin! no burnt orange isn't rare! better to buy rust free car out of the westm pay shippin, buy a complete car unless you have plenty of local cheap parts! ya better be able to do most of the work yourself unless your wealthy! have a building bigger than a 2 car garage. etc etc etc!!haaaa! these old cars are a wonderful hobby as long as everything works out as ya dreamed it!
anywayyyyyyy, remember opinions are like armpits, everyone has a couple and sometimes they stink!

I have owned both 69 and 70s, I personaly like the 70s best, that being said the 70 is a little harder to find parts for and a little more expensive, if it is what you want, and you feel comfortable with it, go for it.

I think these guys bought the cars by now, lol.. I agree though I am a 70' guy myself..
