68 charger, once factory a/c car, no longer. So purchased the left & right dash covers that go in place of the a/c vent diffusers on each end of the dash… pictures show they not even close to fitting? Is there something else i need for them to work?
The covers not only wrong top hole location, but arent wide enough to cover the hole? IMG_6860.jpegIMG_6861.jpegIMG_6863.jpegIMG_6864.jpegIMG_6865.jpegIMG_6866.jpegIMG_6867.png

You won't have anywhere to screw them down because the a/c dash metal has been removed.

Yes. They are much narrower, and also shorter
Did you compare them to the ac vents? I dont know if the ac dash is different,I wouldnt think so.
not even close ….IMG_6870.jpegIMG_6871.jpegIMG_6872.jpeg

That is what I was thinking, the metal window was removed to install the vents and now the covers won't fit correctly...

Ohhhh
So there’s parts missing?
Looks like the vents go back in!

The dash came with pre-punched windows (like models of old, the parts came on trees and you had to remove them to assemble). Once the windows were removed for the vents, the hole is too large.

Edit: Looking at my pic below, the AC and non-AC dashes are different. The vent holes are not removable and can see this if you zoom in...

The a/c and non a/c dash are different. A/c dash has metal missing where the diffuser goes. That metal is needed to install the new trim covers you bought. Look at the screw holes.
Well aware of the misaligned holes, but didn’t know there were dash parts missing

Look at the edges where the covers go for a non-AC dash frame...

Is that metal available?

The trim pieces are correct but you would need to weld patch panels in the dash to mount them. I don't think the metal pieces are pre made.

Thanks, I’ll be re-installing the vents

It looks like the new trim covers the screw hole for the vent. If it does, maybe you could use that screw hole to secure a bracket for the non ac trim piece. It may sound hokey but nobody else will know.

Its not just the misaligned screw holes, the actual piece is too narrow, the the tops are not bent appropriately to match the dash
