BOTTOM LINE: These cars have a huge battery, and it's expensive, and don't plan on needing a jump start if your LX car dies.
As you know, we also have an 07 Charger RT. Yesterday, my wife left the key in the car, in the on position (she must've been listening to Howard Stern before going into work...haha, likely FAUX News) and she killed the battery. So, she calls me up to give her a jump, I show up, pop the hood on the Avalanche, hook the cables up to the (WHAT NO BATTERY, j/k I knew it was in the trunk) posts, and tell her to crank it, all it did was click, and pull a crap load of amps from my vehicle, more clicking...I rev the snot out of that 5.3l Chevy, still clicking.
I tell her the battery is dead, she needs a new one as the solution to getting her car started at that time. The car is an ealy 07, battery made in 06, so, it's 4 yrs old now...almost time for a new one. So, we head to Auto Zone to get a new battery.
I used to work for AZ, so I know the battery brands, types, costs etc. But, good ol' German engineering called for one and only one battery, this baby has 955 CCA! This is in diesel engine territory! My wife asks "Is it because I have a HEMI"? (Not entirely dear, probably all the electronics and high compression engine). I'm thinking WTF? She needed a jump, now we are getting a new battery, and they ain't cheap! $144.00 was the damage!
She asked about tools, I said I have no idea, have to see what I have, and what I need when we look at battery. Needed a 10mm wrench and long extension socket to yank that monster out!
