I need help......found a HEMI car

I would buy that car sight unseen if the numbers and price was right.

For a reasonable price the worst case scenario is that I sit on it for a few years and tinker around replacing panels, doing some welding and picking up needed parts as they come available. Then when in a less intimidating form, sell it.

If it's a real numbers matching hemi car, it will always be a real numbers matching hemi car.

Unruly bunch aren't we? :icon_axe:

i blame b-j auctions because the individuals who bid on these vehicles have more money than all the members on this board put together. When you have such huge amounts of money, you can afford to pay outrageous prices for a vehicle just so the bidder's can have the prideful (in most cases alcoholic induced) satisfaction that they won a competition against another bidder.

because b-j auctions' bidders are the financial elite of this hobby, the prices that they can afford to pay are not truly indicative of the value of the cars, but rather an inflated appraisal based upon the motivations of getting attention, tv time, and competition between other rich people.

just the way i see it though.

Sooooo, the fact that a lot of people that have a lot of money to spend on a car that they LIKE and are willing to out bid the next high bidder is B-J's or any other aution company fault for for ruining the hobby???

So with this thought pattern how would you have B-J FIX this problem?

Sounds to me that you are blaming the wrong people and that it is the BUYER and SELLERS fault for ruining our hobby because they continue to buy and sell. :bootyshake:

The opriginal poster asked about the value of the car. So, AGAIN, what trans, options, color combo, fender tag, broadcast sheet???

These thing will make a big difference in the cars value when done. All you can do is look at the current value and back into the cost of doing the car to and adding in anything that is left over to determine what it is worth as is. In today's market it may be worth nothing from this standpoint EVEN if you were going to rebody it. The facts are that someone will always pay good money just for the tags and title of the car because of what it is/was.

Sooo, what happened with this car? Have you seen it in person yet?

I agree with racedodge! Those people are out of their minds, more money than sense!I think a lot of them are just brokers buying for some one else.

pass, it is not worth the aggravation and time on a 68 gtx. they arent bringing the money.maybe it is is a tx9 black 4 speed maybe. id pass.

I was asking the original poster what happened on the car. Did he buy it or what?

IMO, I think Barret Jackson is not a true source for mopar value. If anything the auction has hurt the muscle car world. Everyone compares that old rusted muscle car that they have to one on the auction block. And then wants way to much money for the car so it just sits and rusts some more...
Sorry but not a big fan of Barret Jackson Auctions.:eusa_boohoo:>i know..lol

The problem is not Barret Jackson. Its always been what it is along with many other auctions. The problem is BJ being on TV for the world to see now. The 300.00 4 door parts car behind ma and pa farmers barn is now worth 10K in there eyes.

exactly..we are all worked up here..seal the deal with a bottle of Ballentines..works well........ Are we going to see some pics? if your not interested, Maybe someone else on here might be interested in getting it on the road. A saved car is a saved car.

I have called the guy back several times but he tellse that he is going to keep the car. It is anautomatic console car. sorry no buildsheet.

sorry to hear that. and forget what the others were saying. yes you would put the money into a restoration, but you would have a HEMI... few others can say that.

my advice would be to bring cash to the fellows home and ask again nicely. money always seems to work! ;)

Being a current owner of both a 1966 Hemi car and a 1969 A12 six pack Bee AND a previous owner of a 1968 Hemi Charger I think I speak rather frankly about these cars and their cost/value. You can stick your head in the sand and ignor the market if you want but if you HAVE to sell you likely won't make any money or even break even with your thoughts on the subject. I wish it weren't so but facts are facts.

I would like to sell my Hemi car but other than my signature I have not advertised it for some time simply because I am not going to GIVE IT AWAY. I am realistic about the market and I don't think YOU are. Of course you may be of the mindset that you get more enjoyment out of building/driving/owning these cars rather than also looking at it from a financial standpoint as well. To each his own.
