Does anyone know what these are called and where I can find them? It is the female fitting that is on the cooler line and threads onto the union fitting in the transmission and into the radiator. Stock 5/16" steel line. I need 3 of these boogers.

Steel fitting on right..

They look like a "B nut" and their sleeves. If you can convert it to AN fittings your life will be much better.

I'm assuming your trying to add these nuts and then make the flare correct?

Yes. What I pictured is original. The nut gets flared onto the tube. The tapped holes in the trans are 1/8 npt. How do I upgrade to AN fittings, I have 5/16" steel line already?

I think I figured it out. I ordered 1/8 npt male to 1/2-20 adaptors ehich will accept the rrgular external threaded tube nuts. The whole AN fittings deal is confusing and I want to keep the hardlines.

You can buy the linesets cheap.

If you want to covert to AN (Army/Navy), those are -5 fittings. -4 = 4/16 (1/4), -5 = 5/16, -6 = 6/16 (3/8), -8 = 8/16 (1/2), etc.. The flares are 37 degree in AN and 45 degree in auto, so you'll need to replace the fittings too.

Just a silly question, if you have the female fittings why do you need others? In order to use those with a stock steel line, you just need to slide them on the steel line & flare the steel line. They are normal flare fittings & you could switch to a brass nut, but you still need to slide the new fitting on & re-flare the tube end.

I have those original fittings, PM me if you still end up needing them

I'm not following. In my picture is how they came stock, so yes, they are needed. I am bending my own lines so I know they will need to be flared. I wanted to stick with the stock setup.

I'm adding a cooler up front and have headers so I need to make them to fit so it is easier to get the fittings than the complete stock line set.

If you are talking about the fittings that screw into the trans and radiator I got mine from the local NAPA store.

Gentleman,
AN stands for Army Navy and is a 37 drgree flare angle. Sometimes this is expressed as JIC which means Joint Industry Conference. 45 degree flare fittings are ecpressed as SAE or Society of Automotive Engineers.
NAPA is an excellent source for both 37 drgree and 45 degree fittings. Especially pipe thread to tubing adapters....both ways...male to female and female to male....pipe to tube and tube to tube and tube to pipe or just about any combination. Remember....tubing is sized by outside diameter x wall thickness and pipe is sized by inside diameter x schedule (ie schedule 10, schedule 20).
Weather Head is an excellent source for fittings or any industrial supply house could also be a source. SwageLok is another supplier.

Don't you have an Advanced auto parts or Nappa or any parts stores you can walk into??

Plenty of them. The problem with finding the nuts is they are almost always compression nuts and not for flare fittings.
What I ordered will replace the brass union fitting in the trans and radiator. It has a female 1/2-20 receptical which will accept an inverted flare tube nut in standard 1/2-20 for 5/16 line.

There are two types of nuts....inverted flare nut where the flare is in ftont o fthe nut and the other type is where the nut is over the flare. Both types are available with a corresponding pipe thread fitting either nptf (female) or male. Imperial Eastman or Parker is another excellent source. Google the names.
