In the early days your Maytag could come with a single cylinder gas motor with a kick starter! My brother has one, the motor not the washer. I was watching the film "Highwaymen" the other night and Clyde Barrow's father had one on the bench in his shop!

In the 90s there was a laundromat that had a machine for spinning water out of blankets and quilts. I don't know how fast it spinned but I used it for blue jeans and they came out 90% dry.
