I'm a new user here. I hope someone here can help me out. I need some HONEST advice/knowledge.
I've got a couple Mopars; 1969 RR A12 clone, 1966 Valiant 1970's drag car rat rod, and my new purchase, which I got today:
A one-owner 1968 Roadrunner with 53,000 miles.
It's a northern car, and it's got it's share of rust, but no bondo, and it was a drag car / street racer it's whole life. It's got a fresh built 440, B&M reverse valve body automatic, 8 3/4 rear, superstock springs, NOS, etc etc. Nice rat rod. Got it from an elderly couple who had it in their garage, ran into some medical problems, needed cash, and sadly, had to let it go.
I paid $3900 for it, and it seemed like a fair deal....until I started opening the boxes in the trunk.
I found this (please see the pics):
It's an Edelbrock STR 14-6 intake manifold, for a six pack, with a 4 barrel top included as well, all three Holley carbs, linkage, etc, a carb rebuild kit or two, and an original NOS Mopar Direct Connection six pack air cleaner set up in good condition.
My question is this:
What are the parts worth, as a package?
I did some reseach tonight, and it really didn't give me a clear answer.
Any help would be great!

Ah, if you want to sell it, I'll buy it all from ya? I think you got yourself some rare if not valuable equipment! Post a pic or two of the car to!

Can you give me some idea of what the stuff is worth?
Or, how can I find out?
I just don't wanna get screwed or screw myself.

Here is the car itself:

I,ve seen the edelbrock intake before..Yes it,s rare...Not too many made..I,d clean it up and put it on ebay at some god aweful reserve and see what happens...Probably 1000.00 to 1500.00 is what it,s worth...You need to run the casting numbers on the carbs to date those...If the are early 69 then you got something there too...The manifold you have is a two piece design that was developed for super stock racing on 440 engines. They are not for street use and run like crap under 3500 rpms..Weiland had a similar setup, but did not produce the hp as the edelbrock...

Nice find on all of it including the car, I love the `68's. You do need to date the carbs, it will be a 4 digit number, if you post them, there are any number of us that can decode them for you. I'd say the carbs are worth about $6 to $800 in that condition and more if they are dated for an A12 car. I paid $1,000 for a set of carbs that were freshly built with all the linkage and the fuel line, 2 of the carbs are from `70 and 1 from `69 and that included a B-engine Edelbrock six pack intake, that was a good deal, I could have paid as much as $1,300 to $1,500 for it. If you wanted to sell the air cleaner fast I would say $375.00 to $450.00. I recently bought one VERY similar to it from one of the fine members who posted it on this site, It was less than $300 shipped. No idea on the intake.

Thanks for the help.
As far as cleaning up the intake, do I use sand blast or bead blast on that aluminum?
Also, where are the numbers on the carbs, and what what would the code look like? A four digit number that is like..........? Can you give me some sort of idea?

I also have, new in the box, never opened, a brand new Direct Connection six pack air cleaner, just like the used one I pictured above.
Any idea what that is worth, if anything?
I didn't mention it before because as I was going through the trunk of the car I thought I'd maybe just keep it for myself. Somebody told me Mopar doesn't make them anymore, and that he had one on back-order with them for 4 years (don't know if that's true).
Any advice is really, greatfully appreciated!

The part # and the date code will be on the back of the carb at the top. I'll use my set as an example...
Front carb is part # 4394-1 dated 1289 or the 128th day of 69 (A12)
Center carb is #4144 dated 0400 or the 40th day of `70.
Rear carb is #4383-1 dated 3649 or the 364th day of `69 this one likely used on a `70 model car. Mine is obviously not a matched set.
Let us know how yours decode.

OK, here is what I have on the carbs:

All are Holley
End Carb: 4382
Dated 2079 or 2479 (think it's 2079)

Middle Carb: 4375
Dated 1789

End Carb: 4383
Dated 1709

I think those are the numbers. Are they?
If so, what does it tell you? What are they worth (roughly on ebay if I go ahead and sell them)?
And, what would be the correct way to market (i.e. list) the parts package of EVERYTHING?

B blasting is the way to go for the clean up...I,d clean the carbs up too and start the bidding at 1300 to 1400 with a reserve of about 1800...

What are the date periods for the A12 carbs?

All three of those carbs are original equipment carbs for a 1970 440-6 engine.

Some of the prices given above are high and the prices depend on the condition. ANY Holley that has been sitting for any length of time will need at a minimum a gasket set. The big dollars paid for these carbs will be by someone that is looking to do a dead on numbers and date code resto and needs those PARTICULAR dates. It may take years to find the right buyer or he may be out there today. He will also take into consideration that he will have to pay for a cosmetic resto on them.

Thank you. That's helpful.

I listed a complete 6 pack on ebay. Cast iron intake, 3 carbs dated Dec 69 till Jan 70, all linkage, original air cleaner assy. Nice set up I used for years but of course as stated, Holley's need rebuilt if they sit. All it would bring was $1200. The only ones that score big are as stated, the early 69's for the A12 resto guys.
If you want big bucks for carbs you probably have to do a thorough cleaning and rebuild, there's so many of the 70 set ups floating around and with quality repo's out there, only that one person looking for those particular dates will pay for them. I found that one guy one mine but was disappointed it didn't go higher.
Nice score on the Runner and parts stash!!!

That STR is a piece of junk that wouldn't look good hanging on your wall:no:;let me hang it on mine:grin::grin::grin:. No,seriously.

That sir,is a helluva find. What you've read about value is on the money. I don't know if the STR manifolds are still viable in competition(The Six-Pack setup might be),and they're useless below 3-3500(but oh boy, what fun above that point)rpm. Definitely NOT a street manifold-I know folks who've tried;I wish I had scarfed them up when they went cheap! I imagine someone could get creative inside with air dams and such and alter the properties of that piece to broaden the usable powerband, but have never heard of it being done. Can't comment on the Six-er stuff;don't have any.

Man,all I found in the trunk of the Sport Fury was an old car cover, three(nice) shipping blankets, some polishing supplies,a spare set of headlight bezels, and an original 7.75-14 Goodyear Power Cushion tire mounted on an original 14X 6 Mopar wheel. Freakin' tire has never seen use,and has all the nubs and such. Won't hold air,but would look great in a restored trunk. Oh,and the original jack. Not bad,but no performance goodies. I ain't bitchin';could have been filled with mouse turds...

LOL.....that's funny.
What more funny is the fact that he told me he bought the manifold and carbs from a guy in a bar back in the very early 1970's from a guy who said he couldn't get the set up to work on his street car....and paid him $50 for EVERYTHING.

(no, that's not a misprint. $50 freaking dollars for EVERYTHING).
