i need rear crossmember and rear tail panel, full qtr,qtr skin, one front inner fender panel, does sherman or amd have a fit problem i should beware of. thanks

I am a novice when it comes to sheatmetal replacement but had no problem installing AMD's sheetmetal. They need very little work and have a quality coating from the factory. I've never used Shermans but tried a few others before finding AMD, they are really nice and fit great. Check out my car on restoration projects (restomod charger) all work was done myself and everything from the doors back is AMD. Good luck

If you are on a budget go with the Sherman or Goodmark as its about half the price as AMD and it fits fine.If money is no object then go with AMD.

Auto Body Specialties claims to have the only sheet metal still made in USA. If that's worth anything to you.

AMD is going to have the best for the most part and most will need work such as the quarters. I'd go with full quarters over skins. The floors should fit pretty good.
It's too bad the USA made ABS stuff is junk.
Al Wilson has a better USA made rear cross member. http://www.n96airgrabber.com/
I carry nice original sheet metal but I'm out of stock on most all that except the front inner well.

i have the some of the peices you are looking for. Rear crossmember and tail panel and tail light buckets. Trunk gutters (all the gutters). I still have two outer wheels wells and one inner. I will sell them for 25% under cost. The best price you will find. Let me know if you are interested.

Thats for a 69 RR right?

That's too bad. I wasn't aware they were inferior. Would you mind elaborating?

Bought the floor pans from ABS, then when i finally had the time to install them, i noticed they did not line up with the trans tunnel without modification. There was a 1/2 inch gap where they meet the firewall seam. Had to cut and form a "tab" on the outside edge corner so the pan would lay flat. There were no holes cut for the drain plugs or for the seat belt bolts. And when i cut the holes for the seat belt that bolts to the inner rocker panel there was a 3/4 inch space between the floor pan and inner panel. it would not sit flush against it. They are not coated or protected in any way.One floorpan sit flush on the floor braces and crossmember and the other side had about a 3/8 inch space that i had to work it to sit tight. My car is not going to be a show car by any standards and i waited too long to actually test fit the pieces but when i did call them about the problems, they told me that they sell them all the time with no negative feedback and basically bashed the other floorpans that are out there. The floor braces, rear pans, and rear window corners were coated (black) so i'm pretty sure those are actually from AMD.It was that ABS had a cheaper price than the other vendors. I am going to install the rear corners next, so i hope they will fit without TOOMUCH modification.

I have always tried to keep names out of it but he said it first, ABS is the one I'm usually referring to when I speak of disappointed. Before buying AMD I purchased the Dutchmen panel, rear valence, trunk floors and right inner fender from ABS for my charger with a lot of disappointment. The trunk floor wasn't to bad but didn't have the lip that spot welds to the taillight panel, if your trunk is gone why doesn't a new panel come complete? The Dutchmen panel, like the trunk wasn't complete and required being welded to the old one all the way across the trunk opening just under the bend "talk about a nightmare to fight warpage" not to mention I still had the rust in the trunk opening to deal with that would have been taken care of by a complete Dutchmen panel. The inner fender required a big hammer to make fit around the shock tower, then a lot of body work to make look good and on top of that it doesn't even look correct compared to the original. The rear valence wasn't bad, I suspect with all of the points that have to be matched up most would require some work to make fit perfect. AMD on the other hand fit great and came as a COMPLETE panel, I even chopped the other Dutchmen panel back off used it for clean donor metal and replaced it with a COMPLETE AMD panel that fixed all of the rust issues and was way easier to install. Tailight panel no issues, full quarters no issues other than getting them tucked under the roof which the tech guy at AMD was more than willing to help me with. I don't understand why people make incomplete panels, if my trunk is so bad that I need a new one why would they think that the oh so important part of the trunk that fastens it to the taillight panel would be any good "that's what PATCH PANELS are for". Anyways, ABS will get the job done but with a lot of extra work, I had to make the missing lip for the trunk and weld it onto it and if I didn't have a break I would have had to pay someone to do it. I'm not lying when I say the AMD full quarters only required hammering down two little high spots right behind the doors on the top side "that's it". I also should mention that I purchased my ABS metal probably 4-5 years ago so maybe they have gotten better "hopefully" because I always try to buy American. P.S I board sanded the coating that came on the AMD sheatmetal just for the heck of it and they blocked out almost all the way without any filler "that's quality".

I bought my ABS pans a little over a year and a half ago, so they haven't up their quality any.

I spoke to a body shop owner and both brands need work. I'm using Sherman at the moment and I'll have to make some adjustments on the extension. Nothing huge, minor adjustments...

I see this is a very old thread but it's the one I found doing a search for Sherman vs AMD. I'm redoing my Cuda and I've used various parts from all three. AMD, Sherman and Goodmark (Keystone). So far AMD has been the closest to best fit for all parts purchased. The smaller Non-Class A surface parts are good enough from any of them. I've bought AMD for all my Class A surfaces (visual from exterior). I had to buy AMD for my outer rear wheel housings as the Sherman parts were so far off. Missing alignment tabs and wrong wheel arch when compared to the original rusted part. The AMD lined right up to include a factory stamping that the Sherman didn't have. The floor parts of my Ebody are going together well but I don't know what kind of issues I may find when it comes time to install interior parts. As mentioned in many places on this site, all current repop supplier parts seem to need a tweak here and there to make them fit perfect. I'm not so sure that wouldn't be the case for NOS parts. Looking at some of the welding and filler in my car, it appears to me these cars were not engineered with exacting fit to start with.

Now that I'm restoring my dad's truck I've now used Sherman as well..... not bad but not great by any means. So far the rockers fall short on both ends, the spot weld lips are to small (very little room to weld) but fit and look good once installed. The floors were pretty nice and the bedside is a really nice piece. AMD is still my favorite, they actually sell panels that repair the whole panel instead of reusing portions of the original which really aggrevates me. You end up patching sections just so can reuse them when it only required them to add a few more inches to the panel????
