the NHL has struck a tentative deal to re-start playing. they figure a 48-50 game season.
personally: who cares.:sleepy2:

I suppose somebody cares somewhere. There might be a nhl lover here amongst us I'm sure. maybe one of our canadian friends.

i just have a bit of a problem with 22 year old uneducated kids making millions of dollars for playing a game. same with football.....and all sports for that matter. its guys like me and you guys that put this country together with brute force, hard work, and some smarts about us for a lifetime of work , and never coming close to making in our lifetime what these kids make in a year....so ill stick to my response of...WHO CARESSSSSSSSSSS!

Could not agree more with EVERY word you said.

My feeling exactly!WHO CARES!!! If it went away permanently it wouldn't hurt my feelings!!!!!!!

Canadian here, and we love our hockey. I personally hope they sign a deal, and start the season and ZERO fans show up for the games or turn them on the TV. It's way way past time for some HUMBLE PIE for the players and owners in the NHL.

Just when hockey was recovering from the last one they go ahead and screw the pooch.
I love the game but lost all interest in the NHL after this crap. Going to take some time to recover and they had better not have another event like this or that will be the end of any chance of ever going mainstream

We used to play pond hockey where I grew up so I've always liked the game. I still like to watch the Canucks play whenever I can catch one of their games on the tube. I used to drive up to Vancouver to see them play once in awhile but I can't afford the ticket prices anymore. That's not going to change anytime soon.

X 2, I always wonder about these young fellows making the kind of money they do, Having a ball playing a game you love and what we like watching on TV and playing on the weekends with friends for.... a good time, Then someone else who loves the same game, any type of game, uses his back all day working a shovel and pic making enough to live on.. Life isint fair is maybe true enough, But who could possibly be so good and great they have to have that kind of money, we love cars, One year with the right racing team and what a difference our lives could have.. They do have skills, thats a fact but the kind of money they get is crazy. So, me also.. Who cares!

ron, the way i see it is, if the seats didn't have bums in them and the television folks not paying zillions for the rights, the pie wouldn't be that big. if, the pie wasn't that big there wouldn't be a fight over the crumbs. i grew up with the original 6 teams and listening to foster hewitt on a fuzzy black and white screen. they lost me on the second expansion to 14-16? teams. today a 20 something man team has 2-3 guys making stupid money to keep the seats full, and 1/2 the cities they are playing in are subsidized by the rest of the league. i don't even start watching now until the second round of the play-offs, maybe. i get lots of offers for tickets in either toronto or montreal from my suppliers but don't go. if a customer wants them there his. i played serious hockey growing up. made jr.-b which in that era was not bad. today they have 2 maybe 3 levels of jr.-a hockey. i just quit playing hockey, old timers, 12 years ago. still go for a skate 1-2 times a month during the season but the hip injury makes it a little wobbly.
xx-thanks for letting me chirp.

p.s. its not all the kids fault for the $$$. there's an agent getting his chunk. a small number of them have a lot of guy's signed up. kinda reminds me of a don king situation, you think. :argue:

I think a big part of the love of hockey died in me when the North Stars moved fom Minnesota to Dallas. I never understood how you could move a hockey team, I say one more time, a hockey team from Minnesota to Texas. I am now a Wild fan, but it has never been the same. This lockout hasn't helped at all.

I played football, baseball, and basketball as a kid, but tracking a three-inch disk going 80 MPH, while keeping track of what five opponents are doing, and thinking about what your four teammates are going to be doing, all while skating backwards on ice... that I could never do, so I have the highest respect for hockey players. I love my Pittsburgh Penguins as much as the Steelers or the Pirates, but this last strike has weakened even me.

What really annoys me is now we're going to hear all manner of commentary about how much the fans are appreciated, which is now a perverse joke. The fans were the only ones without a voice in any of this, and I sure wish we had one. I think we need our own union to look out for our interests because no one else is.
