If you were motivated, could you drive your car across country starting tomorrow?

I bought a ‘65 Chrysler 300 in the SF Bay Area and drove it back to Mississippi. Did a repeat of that with a 1970 international Harvester Travelall.
Earlier this year I built a 440/727 and dropped it in a ‘70 sweptline which my buddy drove to San Francisco. It can be done if you prepare well, don’t panic under pressure, and can afford the fuel.

could i? sure.
mileage would be a major expense.
music would be a mp3 plugged into a battery powered boom box in the back seat.
pain, would be advils, because i can only sit in that damn bench seat for 90 minutes

Mine has been everywhere at one point and time. The guy I bought it from use to take it on vacation. With a 5.7, 5 speed automatic, A/C, cruise control and 323 gears, it gets 23 mpg and will go till you're done.

FBBO road trip! Time to put one together !
I like it ! Our version of the power tour
Same with my 67, swap back in the 2.94 open I have and like Jackie says .....
And away we go !
We have took part in a few multi day road trips. Always a great time.

Actually.....i would love to. And havent complety ruled out the thoughts to drive it next summer to the Tim Welborn show in Alabama

But at less than 10 mpg ..on a good day....it wouldnt be a good idea. So odds are if I go...i will trailer it.
But i have no issues that would make me think it wouldnt / couldnt do it just fine.

It would burn up a gas card.

I drove it to Show Low. Pine top area in northern Az. And from there over to Winslow Az while we were in the general area.

Plenty of fuel...but loved it and planning to do it again next summer. All back roads trip up thru salt river canyon.

Not many people can say they had there Hemi car on the corner in winslow az.

I can see it now some day our phones will all light up with two words.
Cannon Ball. :D

No, my sciatica would flare up and it would be hell for most of the trip.

I flew from Mo to Ca in the mid 90s and bought a great driving 383 67 Cuda and drove it back!! Most fun I ever had with my clothes on!!

In my Imperial ragtop? Gas that up and hit the road now!

My Coronet? Any time.

My D300? With the flatbed on the back and 4.10 gearing, it'll be a slow ride (cue Foghat!), but it would probably do a 1,000 mile trip without much drama.

I wonder how long it would take for some mustang driving asswads to try and hook up with the train of Mopars?

The Charger only has 300 miles on it and just about everything is new.
So yes on that one.
We've driven that one to Carlisle I think 5 times with no issues and it used to get over 15 MPG. (Probably not anymore with the larger cam)
The Plymouth has something wrong with 2nd gear and a pretty bad leak on the front seal that developed on the way back from Carlisle.
We will get that fixed next spring.

I used to drive FL to OH and back every few years in a 20 to 30 year old car.

I've often made the claim that I'd let my wife drive to Atlanta in my 73 Satellite tomorrow and not expect any issues.

So, yes, and the 318-2 with 2.76 gears ought to be good for at least 18 MPG HWY.
