Ignition Switch Help

Does anyone know if all the pins on the ignition switch have to mate up with the female plug.
Pulled the old switch out today and the female plug has one less spots in it than number of terminal on the ignition switch.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just changed over to an auto parts ignition switch there was an extra female plug but it works fine they make these for as many years as possible.
